*3rd Person POV*

At nightfall, Jacob walked to the outskirts of the woods, with Seth following right behind him, backing his alpha up.

"Shouldn't we phase?" Seth questioned angrily.

"No. They'll see it as a threat." Jacob declared.

Seth fell silent and glared at the trees. Thinking of his fallen sisters, he had to suppress a deep growl that was building up in his chest.

The last few days had been tough for the young wolf. His sisters were gone. Presumed dead. He'd spent every passing hour in his wolf form, hoping, praying, that he'd somehow hear their thoughts. Each time, he was met with nothing but silence.

The wolves that had once been his brothers, were dead to him. All of the happy memories Seth had once shared with them, were now tainted and had become a distant memory. All he could see, all he could feel, was the pain, and betrayal, that surrounded his old pack.

What was left of the Black pack, stared off into the darkness. They could hear the shifter's movements, but they were yet to catch sight of anyone.

Jacob called out into the woods. Trying to get their attention. "I wanna talk! It would be easier if I could hear you too."

After some sounds of movement, a clothed Paul emerged from the bushes.

"This isn't your territory anymore. How's the new family working out?" Paul said snidely.

"You done?" Jacob asked in a blunt and fed up tone.

Three more clothed boys emerged from the bushes. One of them asked, "Are you coming home Jake?"

"Not until I finish this." Jacob replied.

"What do you mean?" Paul questioned.

"I need Sam to wait until Bella's been separated from the problem." Jacob responded.

"You mean till she's dead." Paul stated harshly.

"Ease up, Paul." Embry told the hothead, feeling slightly sorry for the girl.

"Then what?" Paul asked.

"Tell Sam, that when the time comes, I'll be the one to destroy it."

Seth looked at Jacob in absolute disbelief. "Jake?!" He shouted.

Paul smirked at Jacob.

Jacob continued, "I'm the only one who can. They trust me." He claimed.

Seth let out a growl towards his alpha. Then exclaimed in a venomous tone, "That's not what Pearl would have wanted."

Jacob internally flinched at the remark, but resolved himself. He had a job to do. "It doesn't matter, Seth. Pearl and Leah are gone. And this needs to end." Jacob said, while ignoring the look of betrayal on his surviving pack member's face.

The present Uley pack members stared at the two, grinning darkly at the thought of Jacob betraying the Cullens.

But at that moment, distant howls sounded from the creek. The message the noises carried, was loud and clear. All of the shifters understood it.

The Cullens had gotten through.

"You played us?!" Paul exclaimed furiously.

Upon realising what his alpha had just done, Seth let a small smile spread onto his face.

Before retreating back into the forest with the rest of his pack, Paul said in a dark tone, directing his words at Seth. "Your sisters are probably dead by now anyway. It serves them right for siding with a bunch of bloodsuckers!"

Jacob had to grab hold of Seth and pull him away before the young boy got a chance to attack the retreating figures of the Uley pack. Allowing him to attack, would have started a fight that they would not have been able to win.

The alpha's focus however, wasn't on the boy he was restraining. No. It was on Paul's parting words. 'What did he mean? Dead by now? Did they not kill the Clearwater sisters?' He thought. Somewhat hopeful, but also confused.
