*3rd Person POV*
It's been around four days, since Pearl moved in with Jacob and Billy, and throughout that time she hasn't been able to see her vampire family or imprint in person, at all. Thankfully, because Jacob would lend Pearl his phone, the hybrid was able to stay in contact with all of them. But the physical distance was still taking a toll on Pearl. Jacob did his best to help out however he could, but he was only able to do so much, and he was the only one on the reservation, (aside from Billy) that was doing so.
Apart from when Leah stopped off at the Black household to deliver a few items from Pearl's old room in Sue's house, she hasn't seen or contacted Pearl since. Seth hasn't made any appearances either, so Pearl assumed that they were both taking Sue's side in this, and wanted nothing to do with her anymore because she's fighting against it.
Since Pearl has been spending basically all of her time with Jacob, the two have gotten closer. They were definitely awkward at first, but they were able to move past it, and develop an actual friendship between them. Because they both enjoy mechanics and working on cars/bikes, they began spending time in Jacob's garage together, working on various projects to distract themselves.
On one of these occasions, Sam Uley stopped by to speak to Jacob, unaware that Pearl was also present.
As soon as Sam saw Pearl, he immediately bared his neck to her in submission. It had been made abundantly clear that Pearl was stronger than him, so Sam didn't intend on taking any chances. The last fight he had engaged in with her, he just barely made it out alive, and that had nothing to do with his skill. It was all down to Pearl, letting him go.
Upon noticing the alpha, Pearl went over to stand by Jacob's side. Her gaze rested on the new scarring that adorned the side of Sam's head and face. As it was rather prominent, Pearl wasn't the only one to stare at it. Jacob found it rather difficult to pull his eyes away from the disfiguration.
Sam looked at Pearl cautiously, and slowly began to speak to Jacob. "I wanted to talk to you about sharing the reservation between our two packs. I don't want another fight." He firmly stated.
Jacob nodded and replied, "I'm sure we can come to an arrangement."
As the two male alphas began discussing their situation, Pearl's gaze never left Sam's figure. He had tried to attack her imprint in the past. And the only reason he was still alive, was because of her split second decision to show him mercy. That was it. There was no deeper thought process to that choice.
When the two males reached a conclusion, Jacob and Sam shook hands to signify their agreement.
After doing so, Sam returned his attention to the hybrid standing before him. Her face was cold and emotionless, but her eyes swirled with her underlying anger. Sam's body began to tremble as an involuntary response. Taking a step back, he gave the stronger alpha a wider berth.
Using the tense silence to try and calm his racing heart, it took Sam a few minutes to work up the courage to address Pearl. Finding his voice, he spoke carefully and respectfully, "You are stronger than me, that much is certain. No member of my pack will cross into forks at any time without your permission. And if any of us do end up in your territory, you're the alpha. Your word is law."
Pearl stared at him coldly, not responding.
Deciding to speak up, Jacob added, "That goes for my pack too, Pearl. When me and my pack enter Forks, you're in charge."
Pearl nodded wordlessly, acknowledging what they had said, but she kept her gaze fixed on Sam and crossed her arms.
Seeing the growing anger in her eyes, Sam looked at the ground shamefully, then mumbled to the hybrid. "Thank you, for sparing my life... I'm sorry for going after your imprint, and for everything I did before that."
Jacob tensed up at the reminder of what happened that night. Not wanting to interfere, he took a step back, to stay out of Pearl's way.
Pearl's eyes turned cold and embodied that of stone, as her face held a look of complete indifference. When she started walking towards Sam, he froze. Utterly terrified that she was going to attack him again. But he couldn't run away, he had to face what he had done in the past, no matter what that might mean for him. Pearl stopped in front of him and raised her hand.
Closing his eyes, Sam waited for the strike... but it never came. Opening them back up, he saw Pearl's hand, outstretched for a handshake. Hesitantly, he shook it.
Pearl's grip was firm, and before she let go, she whispered to him in a deadly tone of voice. "If you ever go after Bree or my family again, I'll tare your other one off too."
Sam gulped and nodded in understanding. Then left the garage in a hurry, sending a quick nod to Jacob on his way out.
Jacob looked to Pearl in slight disbelief. Then muttered quietly, "I thought for sure that you were gonna to rip his head off."
"I thought about it." Pearl answered him, her voice serious.
With surprise visible on his face, he asked, "Why didn't you?"
Facing him, Pearl made eye contact with the male shifter. "He isn't worth the trouble. Plus, there's a part of me that's telling me that it's better to have him as an ally rather than an enemy. I'm not sure why that's the case, but, I'm still alive today because I've always trusted my gut. I'm not gonna stop now." She announced.
Jacob nodded in understanding, and the pair returned to work on the old car that was sitting in the garage unattended.
*Time Skip*
Later that night, there was a knock on the front door of the Black household. Jacob was the one to open it, and he was greeted by a very smart looking man dressed in a suit.
"I'm here to speak with Pearl Clearwater." The stranger said.
"Who are you?" Jacob asked, not allowing the stranger inside.
"I'm her lawyer." The man answered confidently.
"Let him in Jacob." Billy called out from the living room, having heard the short conversation.
Moving aside, Jacob allowed the man into their house. They made their way into the living room, where Billy and Pearl were seated.
Upon spotting Pearl, the man introduced himself and explained what business he had here. "My name is Arthur Conway. I'm a family lawyer who has been hired by Carlisle Cullen to represent you in your quest for emancipation from your legal guardian, Sue Clearwater."
Pearl nodded and her face turned serious.
"Let's discuss your options." Arthur stated, and Pearl filled him in on what she wanted and why. While Arthur explained the legal side of each approach.
