*Pearls POV*
Thankfully my shield, did its job and hid the sound of my bark from the many ears that lay before me.
I'd stumbled upon a battlefield! Massive wolves were tearing vampires apart left and right. And they were assisting other vampires? 'Huh?' I know those wolves must be shifters, like me. So why are they helping some vampires whilst destroying others? That's just confusing. Spirit Warriors and Cold Ones are supposed to be natural enemies. I know that I am an enigma, with my hybrid nature and all. But, do these guys like vampires? 'Well this is a mystery. Who knew Forks could have had so many supernatural creatures. I always thought this place was boring.'
I observed the vampires that looked to be fighting alongside the wolves and I could see that all of them had gold eyes. 'Their eyes are the same as mine!' And another thing, they were the fricking Cullens! The family my father had such a problem with, when they came to town. 'What?! Is that why dad didn't like them? Because they're Cold Ones. How in the hell didn't I notice?! It's obvious looking at them that they aren't human. Geez, I really was blind to everything going on.' Finishing up my internal monologue, I decided to focus my attention onto the wolves... shifters, I mean.
They were vicious in their attacks, they were also quite precise, so they must have had practice fighting with vampires. I'm not sure how well I'd do if I was paired up against one of them. Vampire or shifter, without my ability enabling me to surprise them, I'm pretty sure I'd get absolutely smoked in a fight. Observing the wolves more closely, it was becoming increasingly obvious to me, that, they were working together as one unit. They're totally in sync. Like a pack with one mind. It seems like all, if not most, of their attacks are pre-calculated. 'How do they communicate? I can't understand their barks and growls. So... is there another way they speak to each other? They're acting as if they can read each others minds. I mean it's a ridiculous thought but then again, my entire world view was flipped on its head a few months ago. This wouldn't be the craziest thing I've encountered. But still, it's kinda unbelievable. The legends never mentioned anything of the sort. It's impossible... right? Shifters can't, hear each others thoughts... can they?'
And, as if on cue, my head was flooded with different voices. It was disorienting. They were so loud, and, there was so many. It took a few moments to calm my racing heart, and to adjust to the many new voices that were entering my head with each passing second. 'This is gonna get old, real quick.' I exclaimed.
'Paul to you left!' A male voice shouted out.
'I got it!' Another voice responded.
'Quil pay attention! That leech almost got you!' Another voice said. I recognised his voice. Who was he?
'Sorry Sam!' Quil obviously responded.
'Sam!? As in, Leah's ex-fiancé! That Sam! He's a shifter! What... the? How?! How much did I miss?!' I internally screamed.
*3rd Person POV*
The fight raged on. More and more new born vampires were torn apart by the wolves and the Cullens respectively. Pearl watched from the sidelines, undetected, as she tried to process the new information flooding into her brain at high rates of speed. Courtesy of her birth pack. Being born from the reservation meant Pearl was connected to the pack link automatically, whether she wanted it, or not. Thankfully having her ability activated, meant that her mind was closed to others. So she could now hear the packs thoughts, but they were clueless to her own.
A russet coloured wolf emerged from the tree line and entered the fray. Decapitating multiple new borns that lay in his path. Alice, the short haired pixie vampire, jumped over a shifter whilst avoiding the many new borns that were surrounding her. Jasper, the golden haired boy, chased down a new born that was after Alice and ripped the arms off of the new borns body with ease. Emmet, the largest of the Cullens, assisted a grey furred wolf who was becoming overwhelmed. Rosalie, the blonde goddess of the family, was paired up with a dark brown wolf, they were assisting each other quite a bit in the destruction of the many new borns, and they each of them were ready to jump in to help any of the others if necessary. The patriarch and matriarch of the family Carlisle and Esme, were destroying the new borns as a team before cornering a small red eyed vampire by a tree, that appeared rather reluctant to fight.
Meanwhile, Pearl was stunned into silence, upon hearing the newest voice that came into her head.
'I've got it Jared!' Screamed a female voice.
'It can't be.' Pearl said hesitantly. '...Leah?'
A light coloured wolf, with a pelt mixed with white, brown and grey sneezed, upon her name being mentioned. However, she made no move to respond to her sister, as she did not hear her concealed words and placed the sneeze down to the overwhelmingly unpleasant stench of vampire that surrounded her.
For the pack of shifters. Pearl was silent. Her presence had not yet been detected. Not physically and not in mind. Pearls ghost ability was doing its job. Keeping her hidden, from all sources.
Soon after Leah spoke amongst the pack, Seth's voice came through. Informing the pack, of Victorias demise. After that good news, the last fighting new born was finally destroyed. The Cullens quickly set about lighting the many bodies on fire, in order to completely kill them. Once done they regrouped. A young red-eyed vampire now stood among them. Having surrendered to them, in hopes that her life would be spared.
Both teams conversed quietly amongst themselves, whilst waiting for their remaining members to join them. The shifters still in their wolf forms.
Not 5 minutes later, Edward, Bella and Seth arrived at the clearing. Emerging from the tree line and joining each of their families. Whilst both party's reunited and celebrated their victory. Pearl who was watching from between the trees had many questions running through her head. Ultimately, Pearl came to the conclusion, that it was best to leave and not open old, still healing wounds. The questions she had, would be better left unanswered.
As Pearl turned to leave, she caught the eyes of the new born that the Cullens had spared. Looking into her red eyes, time seemed to stop for the hybrid.
