The days that followed were a whirlwind of secrecy and stolen moments. Mattheo and Y/N's new relationship was fragile, something they both cherished but knew would shatter if exposed too soon. The weight of what they were doing—sneaking around behind Theo's back—hung over them like a storm cloud, but the pull of their feelings was too strong to resist.

They met in hidden corridors, exchanged whispered conversations in the back of the library, and found solace in the shadows of the castle's ancient stone walls. Every moment together was electric, charged with the thrill of something forbidden. But it was also laced with guilt, a constant reminder that they were deceiving someone they both loved.

"Mattheo, this can't go on forever," Y/N murmured one evening as they sat in a secluded alcove, hidden from prying eyes. Her hand was warm in his, but there was a tremor in her voice that he couldn't ignore.

"I know," he replied, squeezing her hand gently. "But I don't know how to tell him. Theo... he's my best friend, Y/N. How do I look him in the eye and say that I've been hiding this from him?"

Y/N sighed, leaning her head on his shoulder. "I don't want to hurt him either. But the longer we keep this a secret, the worse it will be when he finds out. And he will find out eventually, Matty. We can't hide forever."

Mattheo knew she was right, but the thought of confronting Theodore made his stomach twist in knots. Theo had always been there for him, through thick and thin. The idea of betraying that trust, of risking their friendship, was almost unbearable.

"We'll figure it out," he said finally, trying to sound more confident than he felt. "But not yet. I just... I need a little more time."

Y/N nodded, though he could see the worry in her eyes. Time was not on their side, and they both knew it.

Days turned into weeks, and the tension grew. Mattheo found it harder and harder to concentrate in classes, his mind constantly occupied with thoughts of Y/N and the inevitable confrontation with Theo. He could feel the walls closing in, the weight of their secret pressing down on him.

One afternoon, as he was leaving Potions class, Oliver caught up with him, a wide grin on his face.

"Matt, my man! I was looking for you," Theo said, clapping him on the back. "We've got a Hogsmeade trip coming up this weekend. I was thinking we could all go together—me, you, Y/N. It'll be like old times!"

Mattheo's heart skipped a beat. The thought of spending the day with both Y/N and Theo, pretending that everything was normal, filled him with dread. He forced a smile, hoping Theodore wouldn't notice the tension in his expression.

"Yeah, that sounds great," he said, his voice sounding hollow to his own ears.

Theo, fortunately, seemed oblivious. "Brilliant! I'll let Y/N know. She's been a bit distant lately, don't you think? Maybe this will cheer her up."
