The crisp winter air bit at Y/N's cheeks as she adjusted the scarf around her neck, glancing sideways at Mattheo, who walked beside her. The cobbled streets of Hogsmeade were blanketed in fresh snow, the faint crunch beneath their boots the only sound aside from the chatter of other students bustling around the village. Festive decorations adorned the storefronts, glowing fairy lights casting an enchanting glow across the wintery scene.
"Cold yet?" Mattheo asked, smirking as he shoved his hands in his pockets of his coat. His dark hair was flecked with snow, and despite the frigid temperature, he didn't seem to be bothered.
"No," Y/N replied sharply, pulling her gloves on tighter for emphasis. "You're the one who insisted on walking instead of taking the carriages. Don't complain now."
"Complain?" He feigned offense, stopping mid-step to turn to her. "I'd never. I just didn't expect you to be so delicate in this weather."
Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress the grin tugging at her lips. "Right. Because you're clearly the picture of endurance, Mr. 'I nearly froze in the dungeon last week.'"
"That was different, and you know it!" he shot back, falling into step with her again. "It was damp in the dungeon. This is invigorating."
Y/N let out a huff of laughter, shaking her head as they approached Honeydukes. The window display was piled high with peppermint toads, chocolate frogs, and sugar quills, all dusted with a light shimmer of magical snow.
"Care to lose at a peppermint-eating contest?" Mattheo asked, eyeing the display.
"Lose?" Y/N scoffed, crossing her arms. "I'd destroy you, Riddle."
"I don't doubt it," he replied, a hint of a grin tugging at his lips. "But I wouldn't mind seeing you try."
Before she could respond, he pulled the door open, holding it for her with an exaggerated bow. "After you, oh reigning champion of peppermint consumption."
"Charming," she quipped, brushing past him with a laugh.
The warmth of the sweet shop enveloped them instantly, and the rich scent of chocolates and caramel was nearly overwhelming. They wandered the aisles, Y/N occasionally tossing items into her bag while Mattheo trailed behind, offering unhelpful commentary.
"Do you really need another chocolate wand?" he teased, leaning against a shelf.
"Yes, I do," she replied matter-of-factly, ignoring his smirk. "Unlike you, I actually have plans to share these with my friends."
"Friends?" He raised an eyebrow, pretending to look shocked. "I thought I was your only friend."
