Y/N's POV

The common room was alive with the buzz of conversation and the crackling of fire, but none of it reached me. My eyes were locked across the room, where Mattheo Riddle sat, lunging in a chair with that same arrogant smirk that he always wore. He was surrounded by his usual crowd–Theodore Nott, Draco Malfoy, Lorenzo Berkshire, and Blaise Zabini— all of them sharing quiet laughs over whatever mischief they were plotting next.

But it was Mattheo who held my attention.

There was something about him, something dark and dangerous, but it was also the way his eyes always seemed to find me, even in the most crowded rooms. Like now, for example. He caught me staring, and instead of looking away, he held my gaze, his smirk deepening into something almost predatory.

I quickly dropped my eyes to my book, trying to pretend like I hadn't just been caught, but it was too late. I could feel his presence even before he moved. The air around me seemed to shift, and suddenly he was standing in front of me, casting a long shadow over my table.

"Enjoying the view, Y/N?" he asked, his voice low, teasing.

I rolled my eyes, refusing to let him know how flustered I was. "Hardly. Just wondering how you manage to look so smug all the time."

He chuckled, pulling out the chair across from me and sitting down. He leaned back, arms folded behind his head, looking as comfortable as ever. "Comes naturally, I guess."

I shot him a look, trying to mask the fact that my heart was beating faster. "So, what do you want?"

His eyes flickered over me, and for a moment, I thought I saw something softer behind his usual mask. But just as quickly, it was gone, replaced by that infuriating smirk. "I wanted to see if you'd join me for a little...adventure.

I raised an eyebrow. "Adventure?"

He leaned forward, his voice dropping lower. "There's something going on tonight in the Forbidden Forest. Something you won't want to miss.

Forbidden Forest. My stomach tightened. "And you think I'd go with you?"

His grin widened. "I think you're curious enough to find out what it is."

I hesitated, biting my lip. As much as I hated to admit it, he wasn't wrong. There was something magnetic about Mattheo, something that drew me in even when I knew I shouldn't trust him. He was reckless, impulsive...and yet, every time I was near him, I couldn't help but feel alive.

"And if I say no?"

He leaned back again, the flicker of challenge in his eyes. "Then you'll always wonder what you missed."

I narrowed my eyes at him, annoyed that he had me figured out so well. "Fine. But if this gets us expelled, I'm blaming you."

He grinned, standing up and offering me his hand. "Deal"
