The night air was thick with tension, the weight of the impending battle pressing down on the camp like a storm about to break. Mattheo Riddle stood outside the tent, staring into the distance, his thoughts swirling like the dark clouds overhead. In just a few hours, everything would change. The final battle loomed ahead—one that would determine the fate of their world. No one knew what would happen or who would survive.

But tonight, none of that mattered.

Y/N approached him quietly, her footsteps soft against the grass. She had been thinking about this moment for hours, ever since they had made their plan for the battle. There was a heaviness between them that neither could shake—an unspoken, understanding that tomorrow might never come. And yet, beneath the fear, beneath the uncertainty, there was something else. Something wild, something urgent.

"Mattheo," she said softly, her voice pulling him from his thoughts. He turned to face her, and for a moment, neither of them spoke. They didn't need to. His dark eyes met hers, and in that gaze, she saw everything she felt reflected back at her—love, fear, desire, hope, and the desperate need to hold onto whatever they had.

"Come with me," she whispered, reaching her hand out.

Without asking where or why, Mattheo took her hand and followed her through the quiet camp. They weaved between tents, the distant murmur of voices and the crackling of fires fading behind them as they moved deeper into the woods. There was a clearing ahead, illuminated by the pale light of the moon. It felt as if the world had stopped for just a moment, holding its breath.

When they reached the clearing, Y/N stopped and turned to face him. Her heart was racing, but her mind was clear. "I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow," she said, her voice steady but laced with emotion. "I don't know if we'll make it through this or what our world will look like if we do. But tonight...I don't want to think about any of that. I just want to feel something good, something right. I want to marry you, Mattheo. Right here, right now."

Mattheo's breath caught in his throat. He had thought about this—being with her, marrying her—but not like this, not on the eve of what could be their last battle—their last night together. Yet, as he looked at her, standing in the moonlight, her eyes shining with both fear and hope, he realized this was the most perfect time.

"Are you sure?" he asked, stepping closer, his voice soft.

She smiled, her eyes glistening. "I've never been more sure of anything in my life. If we only have tonight, I want it to be ours. I want to be yours."

Mattheo's heart pounded in his chest. He could feel the weight of the moment—the finality of what they were about to face and the beauty of what she was offering him. In this fleeting moment, before the world turned upside down, they could have something real, something that no war or darkness could take from them.

He nodded, his voice thick with emotion. "Then let's do it. Let's get married, Y/N."

They stood there together, the moonlight casting a silvery glow over them, their hands intertwined. With no witnesses but the stars and the ancient trees surrounding them, Mattheo began to speak.

"Y/N," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, but filled with all the love he had held for her. "I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I know that I want to spend every moment I can with you. Whether it's a lifetime or just tonight, I want you to know that I love you with everything I am. You've been my light in the darkest times, my strength when I was weak. I promise you, no matter what happens, I will always carry you with me."

Y/N's eyes filled with tears as she squeezed his hands, her heart swelling with love. "Mattheo, you've been the one constant in all of this chaos. You've been my hope, my reason to keep going. I love you more than words can say, and I promise that, no matter what happens, I'll always be yours. In this life, or the next, I'll find you. Always."

There were no rings, no grand ceremony, but in that moment, they were married—bound together not by law, but by love, by the shared understanding that this night was all they had, and that was enough.

Mattheo leaned in, cupping her face in his hands, and kissed her. It was a kiss filled with everything they couldn't say, everything they feared and everything they hoped for. It was soft but urgent, tender but desperate. When they finally pulled away, they rested their foreheads together, breathing in the warmth of each other's presence.

For a few moments, they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, letting the world fall away. The battle would come, and with it, uncertainty and danger. But tonight was theirs. In the quiet of the woods, beneath the stars and the moon, they had found their joy, their love.

And no matter what happened when the sun rose, they would face it together.
