Pt. 2: The Reckoning
Y/N's POV
Darkness swallowed me as the Death Eaters dragged me down the stone corridors of Voldemort's liar. My mind raced, replaying the sight of Mattheo's face—desperate, angry, broken. I knew he would do everything in his power to save me, even if it meant risking his own life. But I couldn't let him. Not after what I'd just sacrificed to keep him and the others alive.
I couldn't afford to lose hope. I wouldn't.
The Death Eaters tossed me into a cold, damp cell. The door slammed shut behind them, their laughter echoing down the hallway. Alone in the darkness, I slumped against the wall, my body trembling with exhaustion and fear.
"I'm sorry," I whispered to the empty room, my words meant for Mattheo and the others. "I'll find a way to fix this. I swear."
Mattheo's POV
The moment the Death Eaters dragged Y/N away, something inside me snapped. I had failed her once—I would not fail her again.
As the silence settled in the room, Voldemort turned his crimson gaze toward me.
"Don't do anything foolish, my son," he warned, his voice a venomous hiss. "You know what happens when you defy me."
I didn't respond. My mind was already working, searching for any weak point, any chance to escape. My father's cruelty knew no bounds, but this—forcing her to sacrifice herself for us—was a new level of torment.
"She's gone," Draco murmured, slumping against the wall. His voice was weak, his face pale, but there was a bitterness in his tone that made my blood boil. "She gave herself up for nothing."
"She didn't give herself up for nothing," I snapped, my voice sharp enough to cut. "She did it for us. For all of us." I turned to the others. "Draco, Blaise, Theo. Can you move?"
Blaise groaned, his voice weak but determined. "Barely. What's the plan?"
"The plan," I said, my jaw clenched, "is to get out of here and get Y/N back."
Theo, slumped against the wall, managed a dry laugh. "Brilliant. Except for the small detail where we're all chained and half-dead."
"Not for long," I muttered, focusing on my energy on the manacles binding me. I was weak, but I didn't stop. I couldn't. Y/N's face flashed in my mind—her defiance, her strength. I had to do this for her.
With a surge of determination, I muttered the unlocking spell. The chains fell away with a clatter, and I stumbled forward, catching myself against the wall.
