Mattheo Riddle woke up one morning with a hollow feeling inside his chest. The sun was shining through his windows, the birds were chirping, and everything seemed normal. But there was something he couldn't quite place, like a piece of his life had gone missing.

He had no memory of it, but weeks ago, a spell had been cast on him—a forgetting spell. He had grown too close to Y/N, a girl whose presence disrupted the delicate balance of his world. His father and the others around him believed that loving her, being near her, would make him vulnerable, weak. So, they took the memories from him, wiped his mind clean of the bond they had formed, and let him carry on, empty but unaware.

Except, he felt it. Every day, there was an ache in his heart, an emptiness he couldn't quite place nor explain. He would find himself staring at the sky or walking aimlessly through the halls of his school, searching for something—someone—he couldn't name. Dreams haunted his nights, blurry images of a girl with bright eyes and a soft laugh, a voice that called to him from the dark.

One afternoon, Mattheo was in the crowded courtyard with his friends, pretending to laugh at a joke he didn't find funny. That's when he spotted her. Y/N.

His breath caught in his throat. She was sitting on a bench across the courtyard, reading a book, completely unaware of his gaze. But as soon as he saw her, a jolt of recognition shot through him. He didn't know her—at least, he was sure he didn't. And yet, every fiber of his being was telling him otherwise.

For days after that, he couldn't stop thinking about her. His mind, fogged with the spell, couldn't quite grasp why he felt so drawn to her, why his heart raced every time he caught a glimpse of her. It was like there was a thread pulling him toward her, something unspoken that whispered her name in his mind.

One day, as she was walking down the hallway, Mattheo found himself unable to resist any longer. He stepped in front of her, his breath shallow as he looked into her eyes, eyes that seemed to hold the answers to all the questions that had plagued him for weeks.

"Do I know you?" His voice barely above a whisper, his heart pounding in his chest.

Y/N froze, her eyes widening slightly, but there was something in her expression—-something sad, something that told him she knew. She knew everything.

"You don't remember me, do you?" she asked softly, her voice laced with sadness that tugged at his chest.

"I don't...I don't know. I feel like I should. Like I'm missing something, and it's you." His voice cracked, the frustration and confusion finally spilling out. "Why do I feel like this? Why do I feel like I need to know you?"

Y/N bit her lip, her gaze dropping to the floor for a moment before she looked up at him. "They made you forget," she said quietly. "We were close—too close. And they didn't want that. So they took me from you. Erased me."

The words hit him like a punch to the gut. They made you forget. The emptiness in his chest, the constant feeling of feeling something missing—it all made sense now. But the knowledge only made the ache worse.

"But I remember you," Y/N continued, her voice trembling. "I never forgot. And I never will."

Mattheo took a shaky breath, his mind reeling. "I don't care what they did," he said firmly, stepping closer to her. "I don't care about the spell. I feel something when I'm near you. I don't know why, but I know that it's real. And I'm not going to stop until I understand what that means."

Y/N's eyes filled with tears, but she smiled—a soft, hopeful smile. "Then maybe...we can find a way to remember together."

And in that moment, Mattheo knew he wasn't going to let go. He didn't care what magic had been cast, what memories had been stolen. The pull he felt toward Y/N was undeniable, and he would fight to uncover the truth, to reclaim what had been taken from him.

Because even without his memories, his heart remembered her.
