The Room of Requirement had transformed into something out of a dream. Soft golden light bathed the space, casting a warm glow on the food, where Mattheo and Y/N stood. The enchanted ceiling reflected the night sky, stars twinkling above them as if they were dancing beneath the heavens. A slow, melodic tune drifted through the air, its source unseen, as if the room itself was serenading them.
Mattheo took Y/N's hand gently, pulling her close. His fingers, rough from years of wielding a wand, held hers with a surprising tenderness. She let out a soft breath, her heart racing as he placed his other hand on her waist. Neither of them spoke. There was no need for words now; the music and the moment said everything they couldn't.
Y/N rested her head against his chest, her body swaying in time with his. For a boy known for his sharp edges, Mattheo moved with an unexpected grace, as if this was where he was meant to be all along—right here, in this moment, with her.
His heart pounded beneath her ear, strong and steady, grounding her. They moved slowly, in perfect sync, as if they had been dancing together their whole lives. For a while, the world outside ceased to exist. It was just them—no judgment, no prying eyes, just the soft rhythm of the music and the warmth of each other's presence.
"I never thought you'd like something like this," Y/N murmured against his chest, her voice soft, in a teasing tone.
Mattheo's lips curved into a small smile, his hand gently squeezing hers. "I don't," he whispered back, his voice low, almost playful. "But I like it with you."
Y/N felt a warmth bloom in her chest at his words. She looked up at him, their eyes locking, and in the soft glow of the room, Mattheo looked more open, more vulnerable than she had ever seen him. His dark eyes, usually so guarded, were filled with something she couldn't quite name. Something that made her heart skip a beat.
Before she could say anything, the door creaked open.
Mattheo froze, his grip on her waist tightening as his gaze snapped toward the entrance. His friends—Theodore, Blaise, Draco and Lorenzo—stood in the doorway, clearly having stumbled upon them by accident. For a moment, the two worlds collided: the private bubble Mattheo had built with Y/N and the outside reality of his reputation and friends.
Y/N pulled away slightly, a blush creeping up her cheeks, fully expecting them to laugh or make some biting comment. But the teasing never came.
Instead, they stood there, watching in silence. Theodore exchanged a glance with Blaise, a small smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth, but there was no mockery in it—only something akin to pride. Lorenzo crossed his arms, leaning against the doorframe, a knowing smile on his lips.
"About time," Theodore murmured, his voice light, but genuine. "Never thought I'd see the day."
Blaise nodded in agreement, and though Draco said nothing, his expression was soft, his usual sharpness replaced with quiet approval.
Mattheo looked back at Y/N, his face softening as he shrugged, an almost sheepish smile playing on his lips. "I guess they found out."
Y/N smiled back, her heart swelling at the sight of them—his friend, the people who knew him best—looking at them with no judgment, but with something deeper. They didn't mock him or break the moment with their usual sarcasm. Instead, they watched with a quiet awe, as if they, too, understood how important this was.
Blaise took a step back, gesturing for the others to follow. "We'll leave you to it," he said with a wink, and just like that, they were gone; leaving the two lovers to continue what they interrupted.
And as the music continued to play, his friends slowly backed away, leaving them alone. And for the first time, in a long time, Mattheo felt that he had found something real, something that made him genuinely happy.
