I look around, we're standing in a small room with a rocky ceiling, with bright lights lining the sides, stone walls, and a stone floor.
The entrance from where I came is a square shaped pool in the middle,Vance has already gotten out and is taking off his vest.
I close my eyes and gather all the strength I can muster back into my body. When I open them again, Aeron and Willow are standing beside me, each in their own wetsuit.
"Is she okay?" Willow asks, taking my chin in her hand. "She looks quite pale."
"I'm fine, don't worry about me, I haven't been this active in a minute." Willow and Aeron look as Caspian with confused expressions plastered on their faces.
"Kali fell into a coma a few days ago, and has just started to get her strength back, but I assure you she can fight."
"I hope so, for our sake."Aeron says, glancing at Willow who lets go of my chin. I take a step away from Caspian and rub my eyes and stretch my arms. Willow shoves a gun into them,
"Here, you're going to need this." I feel the cold metal with my hands, thankful for the weapon, when I couldn't bring any of my own.
"Where did you get these? I didn't see you bring them up."
"We've always had a stash here, I'm surprised that the other team didn't check." Aeron says, I turn the gun over in my hands examining it, I'll still need to be prepared for a fist fight, but this will help until that comes.
"Attention." Caspian's voice booms in the enclosed area. "When Willow opens the door, she and Aeron's team will proceed first with their guards, I'll follow close behind. I want you all in formation and armed." The only response Caspian receives are faint nods, it's the only response he needs.
Everyone backs behind Willow as she closes her hand on the door handle.
"Three," She starts. I don't know why a countdown is necessary if everyone is already ready for action, but regardless I try to fix myself into a clear mindset.
I must look awful right now, my hair sticking to my neck and down my back with my wetsuit still soaked from our dive.
But it doesn't matter how I look, as long as I can prove to these people that I belong here, and that I wasn't given the Malgrave case for nothing.
"Two," For some reason my heart rate starts to quicken in my chest, the anticipation is what's getting to me, all I have to do is stay with Caspian I remind myself.
It's not a hard job, I have to help him kill the enemy, his enemy.
A shared one nonetheless, although I didn't ask who the rival group was which I regret because I can't exactly try to find information on them now, I'm sure that whatever rival of Caspian's group would also be one of ours.
His group and my agency are alike so I doubt the force we're about to face is as secret as Caspians. I grip my gun tighter, metal digging into my flesh, I hover my finger over the trigger ready for whatever comes my way.
"One." Willow says while opening the door and blinding us all with the surprising amount of light that escapes from it. The door swings open while Willow and Aeron's group rush through, I hear gunshots and I peek from behind Caspian to get a good look at the space.
The walls are all stone, and the floor is covered in the same rocks from the caves, but it's been smoothed down like someone shoved a nail file over the sharp edges until they became even.
The rocky ceiling has long strips of lights wrapped to it, and long desks are shoved in the back with an array of computers.
My eyes dart over to where all the members of the rival team are running, the back of the base wall is lined with guns and weapons, stretching all the way up to the ceiling, each group member grabs something and starts to mindlessly shoot at Willow and Aeron's forces, who duck behind chairs, and tables for cover.
I count around twenty members, some tall, some short, all wearing tight black clothing with black masks covering their nose and mouth.
