Confession

I grip his shirt and he braces for a punch but I surprise him by crashing my lips into his, I don't hate you Caspian, I could never hate you, you're stupid, and stubborn, and you drive me crazy. But despite all of that,

I love you.

When I pull away from Caspian his eyes are wide and he's taking in slow breaths, clearly trying to process what just happened.

"What will I do when you're gone? I hate you Caspian, and you make reckless impulsive decisions, but against all odds, I . . .love you."

Caspian stares in shock and clears his throat, his hands are still cuffed behind his back but I hear a click, and I realize he still has the key, his hands sit in his lap, not moving. His whole body stays still. "I know you don't feel the same, you've seen me at my worst, you've seen me act foolishly, so I beg of you, let me down slowly."

Caspian's face realaxes, but instead of responding he rushes his hands through my hair and pulls me close to him.

The action surprises me, but I reciprocate the gesture, placing my hands on his shoulders. His hands go down, and slide down my neck and onto my waist, I grip his shirt and pull him even closer towards me.

Wait. I'm making out with Caspian in the backseat of a cop car.

My lips pull away from his. "Caspian, someone might see us." I force out, he raises an eyebrow.

"Let them." He pulls me to him again and I don't protest, when we both give each other time to catch our breath I process what just happened. I professed my love for this man, and he only responded with another kiss and two words.

I open my mouth but Caspian speaks before I can get a word out, he takes my hands in his. "Kali I-"

"It's okay Caspian, I'm ready for it." I say waiting for him to finish his thought.

"Ready for what?" He asks, confused, do I really have to spell it out for him? Of course I do, he's a man, they're oblivious.

"Your rejection." I say quietly, I brace myself for his next hurtful words but they don't come.

"Caspian?" I call out.
