But when I finally hear footsteps I mistake them for Caspian, the figure that opens the door is nothing but a monster.
Malgrave is dressed in a sharp red suit, with his blonde hair slicked back in so much gel it looks wet. He has the same demonic smirk on his face.
I want to rip off his mouth and get rid of that vulgar smile.
"Good morning Kalisa." He says pressing his palms to his suit, smoothing out the nonexistent wrinkles in the fabric.
I don't say a word, I don't give him the satisfaction of seeing me try to act like I'm okay, because for Caspian's sake I need to act defeated, as though I'm sure I'm going to die. "Give me the silent treatment again, hm?"
Averting my eyes to the wall of weapons I think about which one he'll use today, I'm hoping that for the sake of my sanity I don't have to endure another session of that horrid device. "Well I have a treat for you today."
The list of possibilities is endless, it could mean anything from 'I have a new way to get information out of you' or 'let me describe Nye's death in perfect detail' both sound unbearable, but I brace myself for the worst. "I've decided torturing you is fruitless. I'll be trying a different tactic today."
I let go of the breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding, but what does he mean by a different tactic?
My question gets answered immediately when Caspian comes into the room holding Decker at gunpoint, Decker's hands are cuffed behind his back restraining his strong arms from any sudden movements.
Caspian looks calm and I'm hoping this is all part of the plan because Decker looks like he's ready to murder anyone that comes close to him.
I look down at Deckers feet, they're also cuffed together only enough to allow him to walk. "You've arrived, perfect timing." Malgrave doesn't even bother with strapping Decker to a chair; all he does is have Caspian hold him against the wall.
Malgrave walks over to me twirling a strand of my hair in his gloved finger. "Kalisa, what is the code to your agency's software?"
I don't know what game he's playing and I'm not sure why Decker is here, but I don't answer the question.
"Die in a hole you piece of shit." I say looking down, Malgrave releases my hair and grabs my chin forcing me to look into the eyes of this monster.
"That was your decision Kalisa." He whispers, the murderer walks over to Caspian and takes the same device off the wall that he used for me yesterday.
Suddenly everything fits, he's going to use Decker to get information out of me. I'm guessing we were both probed and tortured, and neither of us said anything, he's using Decker against me.
My eyes widen and I look into Caspian's calm eyes, maybe he lied again.
Perhaps he was just trying to earn my trust for the millionth time just to gloat about how stupid I am, falling into another one of his traps.
Malgrave looks back at me wearing the same smirk. "What's the code Kalisa?" I don't say a word, Malgrave takes my silence and nods to himself before pushing the device into Decker's stomach.
I've experienced that pain firsthand.
I know how agonizing it is, I can only watch as Decker starts to shake violently, I wonder if I looked like that was as well. The only thing I can think to do is look away as a scream escapes his lips.
"St-stop!" I stutter. "Stop it!" I squeeze my eyes shut and when I open them Decker's head is hanging, crimson blood drips from his mouth and onto the floor.
I cherish the look of annoyance on Malgraves face, but my pleasure is short-lived.
"What is the code Kalisa?" Malgrave asks with as much patience as he has left.
