"Mom"

I smile at Tsumiki, a tear falling down my cheek as her eyes meet mine.

"It's been a while, love." I say, and then let go of Satoru's hand. I step closer to her bed, kneeling next to it. We remain in eye contact, and admire each other for a moment. She's just... beautiful.

"I missed you." Both Tsumiki and I speak in unison. We both let out a little laugh, but she is interrupted by a congested cough consuming her. I feel Satoru rush to our side, slowly grabbing her hand and looking around for a solution to her pain.

Her coughing continues, raising concern for the doctors and staff whispering in the hallway. A doctor rushes in, ushering Satoru and I to move away from her bed. "It's been a while. She's not used to talking." The doctor says, shining a flashlight down her throat.

"We'll probably keep her here for about a week longer, just so she can regain some of her muscle strength back." He says, scribbling down on his note board. He then turns around to face us. "Mom and dad?" The doctor asks us, raising an eyebrow at Satoru and I's young age.

"Yes." Satoru says, nodding his head and intently listening to the doctor.

"She's lost a significant amount of weight just by being on the feeding tube for years. It's important that you prioritize this vulnerable time to aid her not only nutritionally, but cognitively as well. She may have trouble with some things, just do your best to be supportive." He whispers to us. I continuously nod my head, probably looking like a crazy person. "It's a miracle that she even woke up. I can't promise that she'll be the same as she was before the coma."

Behind the doctor, Megumi and Tsumiki whisper to each other. Probably rushing with emotions, but I'm just happy that this didn't set her back mentally. It seems like she's remembering things correctly, at least concerning my absence and what happened at the bridge.

The doctor exits the room, leaving us behind. "Megumi, why don't you go tell Yuji and Nobara to head home." Satoru instructs. Megumi hesitantly lets go of Tsumiki's hand and exits into the hallway where his peers are.
