"Kai! I told you not to run!"

I yell to the boy, who is dashing ahead of me on the path home from the train

I yell to the boy, who is dashing ahead of me on the path home from the train. We have spent the day running errands for the upcoming school year. Kai is about to enter his third year of school, meaning that Tsumiki and Megumi will begin high school this year. I haven't received a letter in over a year now, not from the kids, nor the Higher-Ups.

Secretly, I have a plan. School begins in two weeks, which means I have a week to pack up the life I have led in this village for the past nine years. We will disappear from the village, just like how I disappeared to Jujutsu High school once before. The Higher-Ups have no reason to be mad or surprised about my appearance, I'm only sticking to their word. They will be surprised about the eight year old boy that has come with, and his connections to the Gojo clan, but that will not hold me back from returning to my family.

Kai is the striking image of Gojo, from his hair, to his eyes, to his silly personality. There's no denying that he is Satoru's son, but the Higher-Ups finding out about his existence is not what worries me. Gojo's reaction is the one that keeps me up at night. Will he be mad that I kept his son from him? Probably. Will he be excited? Maybe. No matter the outcome, I have an extraordinary amount of explaining to do to him, as well as Megumi and Tsumiki.

I am overjoyed at the idea of Kai meeting his siblings, but I worry that the two teenagers won't accept him as their younger brother. I hope that when Kai meets his family, he will understand why that day has been marked on the calendar for the entire year. I hope he doesn't resent me for isolating him from his father and his siblings, but one day he will understand too. I hope that everybody knows that I had to do what I did for the well being of everybody.

"Mama, look! A butterfly!" Kai yells, stopping his run to point out a beautiful monarch butterfly sitting atop a flower. "I see it, hon. How beautiful!" I say, catching up to him and patting his head. Kai has always had a knack for the beauty of nature, a trait that I am proud to say was passed down by me. Kai takes hold of my hand and leads the rest of our walk to the house. "Kai, remember how I told you that one day soon you'll be able to meet your father and siblings?" I ask the young boy who is staring up at the clouds. "Yes." He says, too focused on the orange sky. "Well, that day is coming up very soon." I tell him, this catches his attention. "You always say soon, Mom. How soon?" He asks, looking down from the sky and connecting his eyes with mine.

"Well, Kai. When you get home, I think it would be a good idea to start packing up your room." I tell him, my mouth forming a grin. I see a sparkle form in his striking blue eyes, and a grin similar to mine forms on his face. "Really?" He asks, probably in disbelief that I really mean it. "Yes, bud. I really mean soon this time." I told him. "The sooner that we get packed up, the sooner we can head that way." I tell him, and he lets go of my grasp and begins running again. "Kai, wait for me!" I yell, I'm excited that he's excited.
