Iwo Jima was in relative peace despite violence that had occurred just hours earlier. The few Azur Lane girls that had stayed behind were helping the US Navy shipgirls and those of Torpedo Squadron 3 in rebuilding the area after the pounding it had taken from both sides. Still atop Mt Suribachi, Bulolo and Nevada (KC) were looking southwards towards their target. With the Japanese island-hoping being slowed, it was clear they would need to take Truk Lagoon as to secure the Southeastern Pacific from the Abyssals, and now thanks to this recent battle, the Sirens.
Nevada (KC): We really need a plan of attack for this but with our current numbers until your replacements arrive, we can't do anything.
Bulolo: While I understand what you mean, I have a clue of what we're up against when it comes to the Sirens. They don't play by the rules of war like these Abyssals do.
Nevada (KC): They must be a tough mob by the way you're putting it.
Bulolo: They appeared before my arrival to Azur Lane. When humanity wanted to conquer the seas, the Sirens hailing from another attacked sank mass fleets in mere minutes. It became the reason shipgirls came to be in my world.
Nevada (KC): Come to think of it, who's the leader of your alliance? With ten nations under the command of one, it would take a special leader.
Bulolo: That would our "Grey Ghost", Eagle Union's strongest carrier and a worthy opponent against any Siren, that's for sure, even I'm just as powerful as her. We took down the Siren ship Orochi together with our combined power.
Nevada (KC): "Grey Ghost", as in CV-6, USS Enterprise? Yorktown-class aircraft carrier with 20 battle stars?
Bulolo: (Nods her head in a "yes" motion)
Nevada (KC): Fu... and the US Navy haven't done it here to bring the most famous carrier in the navy back as a fleet girl.
Bulolo: Missed opportunity, most likely.
(A/N: As of the time this chapter was written, USS Enterprise CV-6 still hasn't been added to Kantai Collection despite the game being over 10 years old.)
The two then looked to the north as that is where the 3rd Relief Fleet would appear on the horizon. Little did they know was that the fleet was now through the gate and steam southwards towards Iwo Jima, hoping to unite with the fellow shipgirls that had stayed behind. Also not far behind was a US force featuring some of their best ships also heading for Iwo Jima. This one had six shipgirls, one of which was familiar to the Azur Lane girls as she and two others had their skins saved by two Eagle Union destroyers just the year prior.
Phoenix (KC): Are you certain that Iwo Jima was just taken so easily? I highly doubt we could do that.
Maryland (KC): Don't judge too quickly, Phoenix (KC). We are sent to assist a force and rescue six from our enemy.
