Jungkook felt an odd sense of familiarity and comfort as he entered the small yet cozy house. It felt more like home than his own grand mansion. He slipped on the house slippers and quietly followed Jin inside.
Jin put down his school bag and turned to Jungkook. "Would you like something to drink? Shall I start cooking?"
Jungkook suddenly felt offended and snapped, "Do you think I came over just to eat?"
"Oh...sorry, I didn't mean it that way," Jin replied, realizing how his words could be interpreted. "I didn't mean to make you feel that way. Even if you come for food, I don't mind cooking for you. It makes me happy. But if you don't want to eat, that's okay too. I don't mind."
"It's fine," Jungkook interrupted, softening his tone. "Though, I'd like that special tea of yours."
Jin blinked his eyes before laughing, a laugh where his eyes closed and his lips reached his ears.
Suddenly, Jungkook's eyes widened as he froze, an unknown feeling washing over him. Jin's smile was...captivating. It looked so pure and genuine, and for a moment, Jungkook felt something unfamiliar but warm inside him.
He was all frozen until Jin spoke.
"Alright, one special jintea coming right up," Jin said, still smiling. He headed to the kitchen, leaving Jungkook standing there, grappling with the new and overwhelming sensation brought on by Jin's laugh and smile. He didn't even realize when he smiled.
Jungkook entered the kitchen, watching Jin effortlessly make the tea he claimed to like. He quickly shook his head, reminding himself he was only pretending to like the tea. He didn't genuinely enjoy it. He also wonders how could Jin do the work so nicely, without any sight.
"Jungkook?" Jin's voice called out, breaking his thoughts.
Jungkook felt a strange annoyance mixed with an unexplainable warmth every time Jin called his name. There was something about Jin's voice that made his name sound so right. He thought about thanking his parents for giving him such a good name. His attention diverted back to Jin as he spoke again.
"How about I make some chips too?" Jin suggested, placing his hand on top of the pot to feel its temperature. Satisfied with the heat, he smiled. "We can have tea with chips and then enjoy a movie?"
"Make chips? Not order them?" Jungkook asked, genuinely confused. "Chips can be made at home too? Like, potato chips? Fries?"
Jin burst into laughter, trying to cover his mouth while holding his stomach. "Aww, Jungkook. You sounded... so cute and innocent there."
"Innocent? Who? Me?" Jungkook repeated, feeling the word was far from describing him. It didn't suit him at all. But seeing Jin laugh so heartily, he thought maybe being called innocent wasn't so bad. He was genuinely oblivious about cooking stuff and didn't know fries could be made at home. He had only ever eaten them by ordering from outside since no one ever made fries at home for him. Not fries but any food. He'd eat sometimes together with Taehyung and Jimin, but most of the time staying inside the mansion, he was used to eat take out foods, alone.
"Yeah, fries can be made at home," Jin said, still chuckling. "I'll show you. It's actually pretty easy."
Jungkook watched as Jin began preparing the potatoes. Despite his initial skepticism, he found himself fascinated by Jin's skill and ease in the kitchen. There was a warmth and comfort in this small, cozy house that he had never felt in his grand mansion. For the first time, he felt like he was part of something real and genuine.
Ofcourse he refuse to admit that.
"Look. Does it look like your ordered fries?" Jin asked, holding up thinly cut pieces of potato. Jungkook, genuinely interested and curious, nodded and said, "Yeah, it looks good. They aren't eatable yet, are they?"
