Jungkook watched as Jin finally drifted into a deep, exhausted sleep. His heart felt like it was being crushed under the weight of what Jin had just revealed. The guilt gnawed at him, relentless, as he cursed himself for making Jin relive such horrific memories.

Slowly, Jungkook pulled his hand away from Jin’s cheek, his fingers damp with Jin’s tears. He stared at his palm, the moisture clinging to his skin, a physical reminder of the pain Jin had endured. Silent, haunted, he just sat there, unmoving, as his mind raced with dark thoughts.

Then, with cold determination, he picked up his phone with his free hand and dialed a number. His voice was low, almost a growl, when he spoke.

“Hyung... Kwang Taeseong... I need every single detail on this guy, and I want him in front of me. Alive.”

That was all he said before hanging up. His words were venomous, filled with the quiet, deadly promise of revenge. He rested his head back against the headboard, staring at his hand again. The memory of Jin's story echoed in his mind, particularly the part about the driver... the one who could’ve saved him.

And it was Jungkook.

His heart pounded as he remembered that night. He had been on vacation in Busan with his girlfriend at the time, Jimin, and Taehyung. Back then, he was still the arrogant, reckless Jungkook who thrived on bets and had no regard for others. That cold, rainy night... He had been carelessly driving, too focused on flirting with his girlfriend. He could still hear Jimin’s voice warning him to pay attention, telling him to slow down.

But he didn’t care.

Jungkook’s fingers tightened into a fist as he recalled what happened next. He remembered the bump, how his car had hit someone. Jimin had shouted at him to stop, to go check on whoever it was. But Jungkook had brushed it off with a careless shrug.

It's not like someone will die from a mere bump.

That’s what he’d said, dismissing Jimin’s concern and driving away, leaving someone behind in the rain without a second thought. He had no idea then how much those words would come back to haunt him.

Now, knowing the truth... knowing it was Jin who had been hit, Jin who had been left there to suffer... Jungkook wanted to burn himself alive for his cruelty. He didn’t know whether to feel relief or despair that Jin remembered his face—the last face he saw before losing his sight. But that face had done nothing to save him.

Jungkook clenched his jaw, feeling an overwhelming urge to destroy the person he used to be... the man who had been too blind to care, too selfish to stop.

And now, all that was left was the heavy weight of guilt and the resolve to make things right... even if it meant going through hell to do it.

"I... I am sorry," Jungkook whispered, his voice barely audible as he leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to Jin's forehead. His lips lingered there for a moment, as if he could somehow kiss away all the pain, all the memories that haunted Jin.

He held him closer, his arms tightening protectively around Jin's sleeping form, silently vowing to never let anything hurt him again.

Jungkook’s heart was heavy, the weight of his past mistakes crushing him from the inside. He wished he could undo it all—take back the carelessness, the cruelty, the reckless choices that had led to Jin's suffering. But all he could do now was be here for him... protect him, even if it was too late to save him from what had already been done.

"I'm so sorry, Jin...baby, forgive me..."

The next morning, Jin woke up feeling the warmth of a gentle embrace surrounding him. Blinking his eyes in surprise, he slowly realized who it was. The familiar scent and the comforting hold made him smile softly.
