Jin's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. The harsh words from Daehyun, and even Jungkook's fierce defense, everything felt overwhelming. He felt the weight of his blindness more than ever, the isolation it brought, and the pain of being seen as less capable, less human.
He paused by a bench, feeling the cool metal under his fingertips. He sat down, taking a deep breath, trying to steady himself.
The park was quiet, the only sounds being the rustling leaves and distant laughter of children. It was peaceful, but it did little to calm his storming heart.
Jin wiped away a tear that escaped, feeling frustrated with himself for letting it get to this point. He had always tried to be strong, to not let his blindness define him. But moments like these made it hard.
His thoughts wandered to Jungkook. The way he stood up for him was unexpected and touching, but it also filled Jin with a sense of guilt and helplessness. He didn't want to be a burden, didn't want to be the reason for conflicts and problems.
As he sat there, lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice someone approaching. It wasn't until he felt a presence beside him that he looked up, startled. He recognized the familiar scent.
"Jin?"
It was Jungkook, out of breath from running, his eyes filled with concern.
"Oh, J-Jungkook, what are you doing here?" Jin asked, trying to mask his emotions.
"I- just came to see you. Are you mad at me?"
"Oh yes. Yes, I am. I was waiting for you to come, but you came late and ignored me. I wanted to pair with you, but you didn't."
"Jin, that's not it. I- woke up late, you know me. And about the pairing, I had some work to do with that guy, that's why. But my work is done, I can change my partner and work with you." Jungkook smiled, his previous dangerous glares and voice changing into soft and gentle ones. He didn't notice if Jin knew the scene he had created, but he hoped Jin didn't because before he started his plan, he made sure to see Jin had earphones on so that he wouldn't hear. But what Jungkook didn't know was that Jin had earphones, but they were off, and he had been listening all along.
"Jin?" Jungkook called as Jin didn't respond.
"Oh Jungkook." Jin smiled widely as he inhaled Jungkook's scent, which was enough to calm down his soul. Jungkook's scent would always bring such casualness and comfort to Jin. He never mentioned it because it made him shy and embarrassed, but he really loved Jungkook's minty yet manly scent, which was unique.
Only he knew how much relief, calmness, and security he felt with Jungkook's scent near.
A smile would eventually appear on Jin's lips whenever he smelled Jungkook's scent.
"Jungkook, sit down." He patted the spot beside him. The fire and turmoil inside his heart seemed to start calming down by Jungkook's presence, which grew closer to Jin as he sat beside him on the bench.
"Jin, don't be mad. I swear I didn't mean it like that. We can work in pairs. I only want to work with you. I will go and talk with Miss, okay?" Jungkook spoke in a fast, anxious voice. He really felt anxious and mind-blown, thinking Jin might be mad and ignore him. He seemed to forget about everything, like the bet and his feelings. He only cared if Jin was mad at him or not. That's all that mattered.
Jin took a deep breath, letting Jungkook's scent and presence soothe him. "Jungkook, I heard everything," he said softly.
Jungkook's eyes widened in panic. "Jin,...I- I...you see..."
"It's okay," Jin interrupted gently. "I appreciate you standing up for me, but you don't have to go to such lengths. It was too much for him, okay?"
Jungkook scoffed. "You think that's too much? I haven't even started the real fun yet," he whispered the last line, which Jin still heard, making him chuckle.
