After a long duration of time, filled with grueling training, losses, and discovery, the Blue Lock project has finally come to an end.
Y/n currently sat crisscrossed, staring down at a letter in his hands.
Today is the last day the boys had together before they were to leave for home. So, a celebration was put in place, organized by none other than Anri who believed the young men deserved it. Ego, of course, didn't think so, but he couldn't care less about stopping it.
So, as the boys laughed and chatted with one another, Y/n sat alone. Truly a rare sight as the boy usually loves to talk off his friends ears and join in the occasional child's play.
His face was ridden of its usual joy and happiness, replaced with neutrality. Though, the dark pools of horror and pain swam in his eyes as he stared at the inked letters on a flimsy slip of paper.
All those around him were oblivious to his turmoil, and he too was oblivious of their existence at this point, far too lost in his own mind.
The only thing that seemed to exist in his world was himself. He could only feel himself: feel his heartbeat, the blood running through his veins, the breaths that entered and exited...and most importantly, the strong, metallic-smelling, crimson liquid that seemed to pour from his hands, painting his world as if it were a canvas.
That was when Y/n decided to finally show signs of life. He stood, letter clenched in his fist, and stepped out of the room. He did not alert anyone of his departure, not offering a single word or glance. Truly, not a single soul noticed his disappearance until it was far too late.
"Hm..."
A set of narrowed, teal eyes gazed around the room with a trail of confusion. He searched for a person- a person who radiated confidence and charisma. How unfortunate that he was just minutes late.
"Hey." Rin finally spoke up. "Where's Y/n?"
Silence.
All the young men in the room suddenly grew aware of their missing friend. The same friend who almost always seems to be around, the friend who enjoyed speaking whenever given the chance...
"He's not...here?" Isagi mumbled, brows furrowing.
"Wha- But, I saw him! He was here!" Bachira insisted, eyes darting around the room.
"Yeah, I saw him too. He's the one who gave me this when I first entered the room..." Chigiri mumbled, glancing at his wrist where a ribbon was clumsily tied.
"I saw that he left for second, but that was a while ago. Anri-san mentioned something about a letter she received for him." Reo spoke, scratching his temple.
"Letter...Wonder if that's why he's not here right now..." Seiko mumbled while gently pinching his lower lip between two fingers.
"He'll probably be back in a moment. Probably had to piss or something." Karasu said.
"He did mention he had something for us before we began getting into the buses." Hiori said.
"Right~ He's probably just getting it ready." Otoya said.
And so they, albeit hesitantly, resumed their conversations, keeping an eye out for their h/c-haired friend.
But he never came back.
So when they began to file into the buses, neither their friend nor a surprise awaited them.
