"So you mean to tell me that all those green people fighting were hundreds of years old?" Merry asked with surprise as he, Avadis, Pippin and Legolas strolled through the corridors of the Gondorian palace, neither of the members having any idea where they were specifically headed. It was the day after the war had been won, and the midday sun felt to be an overly anticipated visitor to all those in the palace. All of the windows were fully opened to let the warmth replace the musky air from the battle before, their window sills perfectly framing the distant firey glow that emerged from the lands of their defeated enemy.

The fresh air and merry company had drastically improved Avadis' spirits, "not just hundreds, but two thousand years old at least!" She replied to Merry, "they remembered the days where there were hundreds more of my people. I have not met someone from such a time in all my life."

"From the old war of the ring?" Pippin asked.

"The war of the alliance. The days where Isildur took the ring for himself and forsook his bloodline." Legolas explained before bumping into Avadis to avoid being run into by an oncoming maid holding a large basket of linen.

Avadis looked around at the pale white stone walls surrounding them. "Strange to think of how much these walls have seen" she whispered. It was as if the walls had heard her remark because the company approached a large set of dark wooden doors that loomed over them. For the size of humans, Avadis found it quite amusing how everything in this place seemed to be drastically oversized for no apparent reason. They slowed their pace and stood out the front of the door for a moment, contemplating whether to enter or turn around. Each took turns daring the other to open the doors and continue their journey, for the all secretly wished to discover what was behind such a grand set of doors.

"What is the worst that could happen?" Legolas finally asked, stepping forwards and pushing the doors open to reveal a room filled with men in all sorts of formal garments yelling quite loudly at eachother from a circle of large chairs. In the middle stood Aragorn, still wearing his armour, who appeared to be trying to gain the attention of the cacophony of leaders infront of him. Upon the group's sudden arrival into the room, all of the men immediately fell completely silent, all eyes lay on the strange new arrivals.

"Yeahhh, this is probably one of the worser outcomes I would say" Avadis whispered, eyes wide.

"Undoubtedly" Pippin agreed, silently slipping behind Legolas alongside Merry with a cheeky smile. "You two have fun getting out of this one." Before Avadis could turn and speak they disappeared behind the wooden doors, making their escape back down the corridor.

Aragorn raised his eyebrows at the two of them, looking to both surprised and incredibly relieved to see them. He cleared his throat, "ahem, my lords may I present to you Lord Legolas, son of the Elf King Thranduil and Prince of the Woodland Realm." His eyes fell to Avadis and he frowned momentarily in thought as to who to address her as, "and Avadis, daughter and protector of the great Fangorn Forest." Avadis smiled at his endearment to her home. "My friends, may I introduce the high generals of the Gondorian armies." Legolas bowed his head to the company and Avadis hurridly followed in suit behind him, hoping her clumsiness what not immediately evident in the group. However it became evident that the collection of men were far more impressed by the presence of the Prince than of herself.

One of the men stood from his seat, "we would be honoured to have the Prince of Mirkwood join us in our discussion of the succession of the Steward." He smiled courteously towards Legolas, indicating to him a seat in the circle. Legolas did not move from Avadis' side, instead simply nodding his head at the man and looking back to Aragorn for direction.

"However" the man continued with a slight sneer, "we simply cannot allow you who brings..." he searched for the word, "evil tidings... into such a place of esteem. Take my advice and leave this place before we are forced to remove you, demon."
