It was only two weeks later that Avadis awoke to a surprisingly gentle knock to her door. It was very early into the morning, the sunlight had only barely begun to shine into her room. She groaned and rolled over slightly, about to go back to sleep if it had not been for a second gentle knock at her door. With a great huff of inconvenience she rolled out of bed and yelled out "I'm coming I'm coming!" With only the slightest hint of frustration.

Avadis fluffed out her wings and neatened her hair before opening the door with squinted eyes to be met by the jolly face of Legolas. Looking him up and down she still refused to believe that elves slept at all, for he seemed to be completely awake and alert at such an early hour of the morning. Why you would do that to yourself she had absolutely no idea. "Some of us our needing our beauty sleep in here, unlike you it seems" she said with a tinge of jealousy which he laughed off immediately.

"Well then I am glad to have woken you, it seems you have taken all the beauty for yourself and left none behind for the rest of us!" He chuckled as he looked down at Avadis' uncombed hair, squinting eyes and wrinkled nightgown. Avadis poked her tongue out at him with a small smile. It was too early in the morning for compliments and her brain was not awake enough to retaliate like she normally would.

"Aragorn has asked for us to join him in the throne room" he took a small step backwards, "I will wait here for you to be ready, but then we must go. He did not say why, but he spoke with such urgency that I came here straight away out of worry." He nodded his head and closed the door on her without a word more, leaving Avadis with her mouth half open before she had the chance to ask even a single question.

She smiled, she'd always admired the brotherhood between him and Aragorn. It was obvious that Legolas cared greatly for his friend, even if it meant he worried too greatly for him in unneccessary times and early hours of the morning. Because of this she moved quickly, grabbing the nearest dress and pulling it around her before collecting her hair in a deep green clip that matched with the cloth of her clothing. Finally she grabbed only a few daggers which she cleverly tucked away in her many hidden pockets before stretching her shoulders and making a run for the door.

When she opened it again she found that the number of friends waiting for her had multiplied three times more, with Gimli and Gandalf also waiting somewhat impatiently for her, muttering things to eachother with low and grumbly voices.

Gandalf nodded briefly to her in greeting before spinning around and marching off down the corridor in a mass of hood and cloak, his staff tapping rhythmically alongside him. Legolas followed closely behind him, but Gimli stayed back by Avadis' side almost wrapped around by her right wing. "What's happening" she whispered to him, wiping the sleep from her eyes and yawning still despite her nervous concern.

"Not a clue, but the elf made it sound so serious I skipped my morning beard comb" he replied in a low voice, "so it better be a life threatening situation at the very least!"

She laughed and patted a hand on the back of his shoulder, "well if it is, I have my daggers prepared for it" she lifted the hem of her dress to reveal the shiny blade pressed into her boots.

"Thats my girl" he replied with a wink.

...

They let themselves very discretely into the throne room by practically breaking down the door and Gimli immediately made himself at home on the stewards chair, stretching his body out and yawning very loudly as if to make a point before giving up and grumbling to himself in silence while he chewed nervously on the end of his pipe. Eventually Aragorn appeared through another entrance, checking behind him cautiously before closing the door behind him.
