Two Clueless Shmucks

part 47 (EPILOGUE)

If you ever told him a year ago that his whole career was going to have gone down in flames because his best friend shot him on accident and then he went to prison for it. And if you ever told him that his lover betrayed him for a woman that was insane and evil. Or if you told him that not just one, but two of his best friends had committed suicide because of that same woman his lover left him for.

Then, well, Kenny would simply not believe you.

If anything, he'd call you crazy, maybe even schizophrenic knowing Kenny. But now? Now that, with tears flooding in his eyes, scarring his face and had the neck of his shirt soaked? Now, well, maybe now Kenny'd believe you. Yeah, now that he was currently driving like his life depended on it. Now he'd stick around if you told him the full story.

Because, could somebody, please somebody, just tell Kenny why he'd just received a message from his best friend and brother that it was now his turn?

That Niko was going to be the sunrise to Aj's sunset?

And could somebody, God, somebody please -please- just tell him why the moment he'd gotten to the road of the now 'just Niko's' house, he could tell something was wrong?

There were flames. Flames engulfing the house, about as crowded as the amount of people surrounding the locked gate was. The roof had already started to cave in and the walls were starting to crumble. The house wasn't very sturdy for one that expensive. Kenny got out the car in the middle of the road, not bothering to park.

"NO!" He screamed, a crack in his voice with how high his voice had gone up. "No, Niko, PLEASE?!" His fingers interlocked with the gaps in the gate, shaking it back and forth. He could feel the warmth of the fire from here, the heat of it attacking his face as if telling Kenny that it was over.

There were loud murmurs from the crowd surrounding Kenny when he'd called out Niko's name. It'd been a year since the world had found out where Niko and Aj had lived, so, they'd long forgotten that this was currently the house of Niko Omilana.

Or, well, it was the house of Niko Omilana. Kenny watched in pain, genuine grief, how a new part of the building was hugged by a flame every minute. The firefighters had been called already by several people, so at least Kenny didn't have to waste his time on that.

Instead what Kenny did was type up the stupid little password into the stupid fucking keypad and as soon as the stupid gate even remotely opened up, Kenny slid through it and started running towards the house. He couldn't care less if he got hurt. He couldn't lose Niko, he just couldn't.

There were blaring sirens, finally sirens. Help was coming, they would save Niko. Kenny ran around the house, searching for a place, any small area that wasn't covered in fire. It'd almost taken up the entire house with how long it took Kenny to get here. But this house was big, so big that it must've been impossible for the entire thing to have caught fire that quick. There were a few windows that had shattered by the pressure of the heat, but it'd be impossible to get inside with how quick the fires were spreading.

A window. It was on the second floor, not so high. It looked like it was a bathroom. As Kenny was looking through it he knew that it luckily hadn't caught fire just yet. Kenny brought his hands up to his mouth and held them in a way his voice would project. "I'M COMING BROTHER, PLEASE DON'T GO!" Kenny cried. He searched everywhere for a ladder. Or something, please anything he could use to get the fuck up?! Nothing?! What the fuck?!

But before Kenny could even try and makeshift a ladder the authorities had arrived. The firefighters tried their ways to get into the house, hoses ready. The police had already taped up the place, getting the crowd to stand far away. A group of police officers had gotten a hold of Kenny, pulling him away from the burning house.
