I'm Home!

Having being found by Mateo on the floor of his bedroom once again in a rather embarrassing position, still in human form and much to his amusement, I began firing a line of questions at him.

"How do I turn back into the jaguar thingy? How did I do that in the first place?" My eyes narrowed on Mateo after each question that flew out of my mouth. "Hey, wait a minute.... You jabbed me with something, what was it? Is that why I can't turn back into a cat?" At this point my hands were cemented to my hips, while my eyes were glued onto a chuckling Mateo. My mind was whirling around and around with everything that has and had been happening to me and my mind had finally decided to play catch up and form every question it could possible think of.

"Who are you really, Mateo? Where am I? What am I? How are we connected seeing as though I always end up here? What is a Luna and a mate and why does everyone here call me those things?" In my rapid firing of questions, I had not realized that Mateo had closed the gap between the two of us, even though I was looking straight at the man, and he wrapped me up in his arms. His face finding the crook of my neck and taking in deep breaths of what? me?

The only thing that managed to pull me out of my bubble and realize his proximity was that his entire body was shaking. Shaking with laughter.

When he pulled away and looked at me, all I saw was adoration..... And, humor. He found this all very entertaining.

"Well, Nebula." He said, looking directly at me, still trying to still the shudders of laughter. "Why don't we go for a walk. That way, we can be out of earshot of everyone here and I'll gladly answer all your questions but let's stick to one at a time. Yeah?" He said, still with his arms around me.

It was only once he'd pulled away from me that I felt the loss of him. His warmth, his security, his affection and those weird yet wonderful tingles he gives me. Yes, I did groan at the loss of his touch which had his head spinning in my direction and an alluring smile gracing his lips. Which my eyes couldn't help but look at. I wonder what it would be like to be kissed by those lips... Just that thought alone had my body heating up and my legs clenching together until the sound of a clearing throat hit my ears. Yes, another groan, only this time accompanied by the blush of being caught staring in rather a lecherous manner.

"Ah, yes. Ok. Good." I began to frantically avert my face's color and look around me, as if I was looking for something to take with me on this so called walk we were about to take. My nerves only settling once Mateo had taken my hand in his and began leading me out of his bedroom.

We were half way across a field, which looked to be the center of where ever I was, as the houses and other buildings were on the outskirts around this field. On this field, there were people practicing what looked like fighting. With a more concentrated look at the people, it looked more like an outdoor MMA arena just with no ropes around the ring and no shouting spectators. This confused me some what. Why would they need to practice fighting?

"This is where our pack trains." I hear Mateo's voice from beside me. I looked at him and I could see he was watching me closely.

"Pack?" Was all I could focus on. One question at a time Nebs. I told myself. I would get all the answers I was looking for and considering what has happened already, Mateo was the one who would probably be best to answer.

"Yep. Pack. As in, you've already seen me shift into my wolf." His arm spread out, motioning to our surroundings, the people and the place in general. "We are a wolf shifter pack and I am the alpha of the pack."

I look at him quizzically, knowing I can't judge. After all, I've just found out that my parents are witches and I too can so called shift. "What is an alpha? and, and a Luna?"

Mateo looked at me and smiled gently and gave my hand a squeeze as we carried on walking.

"Well, the alpha is the head of the pack. The leader." He was trying to explain to me but I found myself interrupting him.

"You lead all these people?" My level of respect for the man sky rocketed. He was not much older than I was and yet here he ran an entire community. I hadn't even realized or taken note of what was really going on around me. How blind was I?

"Yep. And they can all shift, just like you and I can. That's what makes us so special, you most of all. You're not a wolf shifter but a jaguar and to be honest I've never actually seen or met any other kids of shifters besides wolves." He bopped my on the nose with one of his free hand's fingers. "And that makes you even more special, besides the fact that you and I are mates." He said with undulating pride. My eyes widened at that. I had never really thought of myself as special. I had always epitomized the word 'normal' and now.... Now, I was anything but normal and for once I wished that Page was here with a full bottle of tequila or her not so green tea.

Mateo had walked us to the waterfall I remembered, all the while explaining everything he could to me and patiently answered the myriad of questions I threw at him. I can quite confidently say that I understood a lot more when he explained it. My parents were too excited to properly explain everything about a world I never knew existed and amazingly enough, he did it while holding my hand and not once letting it go. Not once. It was comforting to know that such an amazing man had been made just for me. I wasn't sure if I was Luna material but some how he made me feel like I could take on the world with confidence and ease. I sat there, on the patch of green grass where I had shifted before and just looked at the man in front of me with awe. The air around us seemed to form a blanket around us and for the first time in my life, I didn't have the desire to high tail it out and away from a man. It was strange, his answers only seemed to put how I felt into words. The way I was so comfortable around him.

After a while, once all my questions had been answered, Mateo, decided to try his luck with getting me to shift.

Shifting with Mateo by my side, every step of the way, was much easier and this time I didn't get a fright or freak out when he shifted into his wolf and we spent a good part of the day running and bonding in our shifted forms. That was until an unfamiliar smell caught my attention and the bushes not too far from where we were rustled. I jumped and I was well aware of what happened when I jumped.

When I reopened my eyes, I was still in my jaguar form but now I was back in my back yard. Only it was empty. I did what Matteo had taught me and focused my energy in order to shift back to on two legs. Looking down and noticing I was now the one as naked as the day I was born, I tried my very best to cover myself up with both hands and arms and ran to the back door.

"Are you kidding me?" I though out a loud. "Mom! Dad! Page?" I yelled moving from the back door to the windows. "I'm home, can someone open up, please. I have a bit of an issue here." I said as I wrapped on one window after the next.

"Shit!" I whisper yelled. Knowing full well the only spare key is out by the front door and there is nothing but a waist high white picket fence to keep me out of any nosey neighbors' view. I looked around to see if there was anything I could use to cover up with and thank the love of caring parents, there was a stack of folded clothes as well as a note and the spare key had been tucked in between my folded clothing.

"Yes! Thank you Mom and Dad." I cheered as I dressed quickly and made my way back inside.
