I have been putting this off for a while. I think it was on my mind before I even thought about it if that makes sense. This decision was not an easy one to make, especially as I haven't made such a decision before.
MLP meets RQ: The sequel, is not going to be worked on anymore. Or at the very least, it will be worked on very very slowly. This is for a few reasons.Reason One: It hurts to say as this is one of the main reasons. I love Doctor Who, but the problem was it was actually not my original idea. I was originally going to just use Doctor Whooves. But in the end, at the time, I thought I'd use the Doctor himself. But I greatly underestimated how difficult it was to write the Doctor good lmao. If I was to have made the decision now, I probably wouldn't have done so.
I completely fumbled with 11's appearance and exit from the story, as at the time, I was still learning and teaching myself on how to write. So for me to try and write using a very complex character like the Doctor was probably not the best of ideas. (I did make it up with 12's appearance though, I hope lol). I also made he Doctor's timeline in the story too complicated for myself (let alone the readers) to keep up and not made it clear enough. I tried to make his actions 'not linear' to time, but I tried too hard to the point it was wonky. So it was very difficult to know what was going on. Basically, this is his timeline from the Doctor's POV in the story, just for anyone who was confused:
- He enters the story.
- Confronts the Paradigm Daleks.
Goes back in time to the Steve Legends era to pursue the Daleks.
- After leaving the timeline, he speaks with Origin.
- He along with is other incarnations up to the 12th Doctor (12th Doctor came up with the plan), helps the main characters to deal with the First Curse.
- Comes back for the time being to help the characters in their final fight against the Demon Steves.
- Restarted the Doctor Whooves cycle, then leaves the timeline again.
- Regenerates into the 12th Doctor.
I really made it up for my handing of the 11th Doctor with the 12th Doctor. But still, I shouldn't of had the Doctor in the story until at least later than he did appear, especially as it wasn't my original plan to have the Doctor in the story. I also should've studied the Doctor better as well before including him lmao. Some parts of the story I flopped with writing as I simply wasn't prepared for how complex it would be to write the Doctor.
Second reason: For my readers (this is mainly to let my ffn readers know), my mature story was taken down on Wattpad, even though I followed the guidelines regarding mature content. This overall hit really hard with my motivation to write, therefore, also impacting me when writing other stories. Wattpad still has yet to respond to my appeal request. Overall, it just made it hard to be motivated to write, and I'm stil finding it hard to motivate myself.
Third reason: I made the jump between the first story and the sequel too big of a gap. As most of you should be aware, Madness Steve was the antagonist in the first story. Where I failed though, is I didn't properly explain or even include how many of an impact he left on the characters after the first stories. Some characters were literally tortured, but I didn't show how everyone was feeling. A day after he was reformed, everything seem to have gone back to normal. With the ambitions and goals Madness Steve has... no one is coming out without being scarred and traumatized for the rest of existence.
I didn't properly display the aftermath of his actions enough, and I could've done a far FAR better job with that. On top of that, there is more information out about Madness Steve than there was at the time I was writing the first story. For example, he has a cult who worships him and fights alongside him. Then there is of course things like the Cyberdrone Steves, the First Blessing, and so on.
-----------------------------------------------------------
There are some other, although minor, reasons. Overall though, all of this eventually weighed down on me, and this is where we are today. It has been a difficult choice to make, but I decided to do this as it was going to be beneficial to my sanity down the line. Now, does this mean I won't return to this story? No, I don't want to leave stories unfinished. It just means I'll be working on it very VERY rarely, and when I do make another chapter, I won't be notifying everyone like I usually do when I upload chapters. I don't want to leave this story unfinished. I do have the next chapter somewhat near completion, and I don't want to throw all of that away.
I have also been planning on a rewrite of the whole MLP meets RQ storyline overall for a while. I also want to include a few other fictional universes in the story (Doctor Who included, which I am much more prepared to include as well as having far better experience in writing in general). The storyline isn't perfect, as I have been working off from a story that is almost 3 years old lol. So I do kinda want to rewrite it and do a much better job. Some may be disappointed to see this story end, but definitely look forward for when the rewrite is ready.
That is pretty much all I want to say. I don't know what else to say.
