While Luna was making progress within just two days of her training, Naruto was struggling.

Minutes after leaving his best friend's hospital room, already predicting her escape, he was thrown to the wolves by his own Sensei. The wolves were Ebisu, a familiar pervert. And after hours of running away from the man for a bet to get a new teacher, he lost miserably.

But that was the least of his problems. After fighting with Ebisu for hours, Naruto finally caught on to the disturbance of his chakra. It didn't flow through his veins like normal, as if it was muffled almost. And after years of training with a chakra prodigy, Naruto felt more unbalanced than he had in years. It felt as if years of training and experience were taken from him, forcing him to learn the steps all over again. Only this time, all the techniques he grew up learning failed miserably. It confused him endlessly and if it weren't for Ebisu being so confident he could help him, Naruto would've zoomed to Luna in a heartbeat to figure out what was wrong.

For a few hours, Naruto did believe that Ebisu could help make him stronger. Until he watched him get squashed by an older and even bigger pervert.

Jiraiya, the Toad Mountain Sage as he had introduced himself, was... interesting in Naruto's opinion. But he was strong, and that was exactly who Naruto needed to train him. And after hours of trying to find the old pervert and convince him to train him, Naruto is very much satisfied to say he is finally being trained by someone worthy.

Naruto shifted on the gravel of a river's shore, eyeing the Pervy Sage who sat beside him oddly relaxed, his hands folded in his lap. A part of Naruto felt nerved by his suddenly calm state, settling for giving the old man a blank, unsure look.

"You're really gonna train me?" Naruto asked slowly and Jiraiya glanced at him, his eyes suddenly annoyed.

"A Sage always means what they say." Jiraiya lectured, almost in disapproval before waving his hand over to the water. "Hurry up and show me that technique you were working on before."

Naruto wordlessly stood, glancing at the flowing river water. Just minutes before the Toad Sage had appeared, Ebisu had taken him to a hot spring to practice. Naruto assumed that his ex-trainer had thought the steaming water would persuade him not to tumble in. But it wasn't like he could've stopped himself anyway.

"Here goes nothing," Naruto mumbled, feeling his chakra channel through him before setting a hesitant foot on the water's surface. He couldn't help but cringe, noticing how his steps were unusually timid and shaky. That didn't stop him from nervously watching the water's surface, desperate to keep his chakra steady to his feet. He only made it 4 steps into the river before he tumbled into it, soaking his clothes and hair.
