"Have you ever consider doing box braids?" Lana asked as she softly touched Julie's curly hair, while her girlfriend laid on her lap.
"It definitly would look good, but I take good care of my hair and I feel like I would ruin it with box braids. Although it's a pain in the ass to take care of it" Lana smiled.
"Yeah, I know afro or curly hair takes a lot of job. You should've seen how my mom struggled when my sister was born. She was asking every black woman with afro hair she knew about it" Julie burst out a laugh.
"Did she find a way to take care of it?"
"Yeah, my stepdad ended up asking his sister about it. They still had a hard time adjusting to everything" Lana said. "She ended up taking better care of her hair by her own"Julie's phone started buzzing, and she stood up to pick it up. It was her sister, Tara.
"Julie, is it true?" She heard as soon as she picked up.
"What?" Julie asked, confused.
"There's pictures of you on a date with Lana Sunderland, kissing her, holding her hand..." Julie stopped hearing afterwards.
"What?" She repeated. "Wha-what do you mean?"
"You didn't know?" Julie stayed in silence. "Julie, you didn't know?"
"No" She ended the phone call and inmediatly searched for Lana's name, while her girlfriend stared at her confused from the bed.
"Babe, what's going on?" Lana asked her.Julie saw dozens of headlines thar said "Lana is seeing on a romantic dinner with her unknowm girlfriend", "Who's Lana Sunderland's new girlfriend","Lana Sunderland is caught kissing and holding hands with an unknown author" with pictures of her and Lana kissing and holding hands.
Julie turned around and had a second of realization. Lana had set her up. She felt furious out of the sudden. She tossed the phone at Lana."You told me... you told me no one was on the restaurant. That nothing had happend to you being there" Confused by her girlfriend's anger, Lana took a look at the phone and saw the headlines and pictures of them online, and Julie snatched her phone out of her hands and stormed out of the room angry.
"Wait, you don't fucking think I did this, do you?"
"Don't play dumb, I know it was you" Julie said, walking fast and angry withouth being able to process anything but the fact that her girlfriend had betrayed her. Lana followed her.
"It's fucking messed up that you're accusing me of this, I cannot believe this" Julie turned around to face Lana, the anger showing on her face, her amber darkened, and slowly walked to her.
"Do you think I'm stupid? You knew everyone in the restaurant, you insisted in going there, you were the one to pay for the place to be 'empty' and what a coincidence, this all fucking happens exactly after you told me that you were suddenly 'okay' with me not coming out after almost dumping me over that" Lana had never seen her so angry, and did not know how to convince her that what she thought wasn't true. She was so hurt her own girlfriend would think she was capable of doing something like this.
"You're wrong, Julie" Lana replied, and Julie closed her eyes for a brief second and took a deep breath.
"Tell me the truth right now or we're done, Lana. I mean it. If you're not honest with me in this exact moment, you'll never see me again" Julie said, a serious tone and a straight face. Lana burst out a laugh with her eyes teary, it seemed so ridiculous to her. She did not know what to respond.
"I love you so much, but I can't believe you think that I would be capable of something like that, I just can't" Julie stared at her, and Lana was getting angrier. "Don't you think that out of all people, I would understand how fucking messed up that is?" Lana shout to Julie, taking a step forward, making her girlfriend take a step back.
"You're a fucking liar" She said. "I don't want to see you again" Julie saw the anger in Lana's eyes.
"The feeling is mutual. Get the fuck out of here and don't ever come back" Lana said, and Julie begin to walk outside. As soon as she stepped outside the penthouse, she heard a loud slamming of the door.Julie walked outside and the photographers alongside some reporters where waiting for her, asking her if she was dating Lana or not. She ignored them and drove to her apartment as she tears rolled down her cheeks.
