The next morning, Lucy was jolted awake by the sound of her phone alarm blaring insistently. With a groggy sigh, she reached over to grab it, but Austin’s voice stopped her. “Don’t worry, I got it,” he said, his tone warm and reassuring. She sat up slowly, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she looked at him. “What are you doing up so early?” she asked, surprised to see him already dressed in workout gear.
“I woke up early,” Austin replied, a hint of excitement in his voice. “I wanted to get a quick workout in before I head off to the office.”
Lucy smiled, admiring his dedication. “You’re impressive, you know that?”
Austin chuckled, brushing off the compliment as he handed her a glass of water along with her medication. “Here, babe, take your medication.”
Lucy took the pill from him, holding it up in mock cheers. “Here’s to feeling better!” she said, scrunching up her face dramatically before swallowing the pill with a sip of water.
Austin laughed, his eyes sparkling with affection. “You’re going to be back to your old self in no time, I promise.”
Lucy felt a wave of gratitude wash over her. The support from Austin made all the difference in her recovery. “Thanks for being so amazing,” she said, her voice softening. He leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. “It’s easy when you’re as strong as you are. Just remember, I’m here for you every step of the way.”
After a moment, Austin stood up, stretching his arms above his head. “Alright, I’ll let you get some more rest. I’ll be back in a bit.”
“Okay, but don’t forget to bring me coffee!” she called after him, a playful grin on her face.
“Coffee is a must!” he replied, heading out the door.
As the quiet settled back around her, Lucy sank back into her pillows, feeling a mix of comfort and determination. She knew today was another opportunity for growth and healing. With Austin by her side for the past twenty-four years, she felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
After a little while, she decided to get up. The sunlight streaming through the window beckoned her, and she felt a surge of motivation. She could start her day, take care of herself, and maybe even do a little light stretching. With a smile, Lucy swung her legs over the side of the bed, ready to embrace the day.
After getting out of bed, Lucy decided to treat herself to a warm shower, letting the steam envelop her and wash away the remnants of sleep. The soothing water felt incredible against her skin, and she took a moment to simply breathe, enjoying the tranquility of the morning.
Once she was finished, she wrapped herself in a fluffy towel and got dressed in her favorite cozy sweater dress. The soft fabric hugged her comfortably, and she paired it with warm socks and her favorite Nike shoes, feeling both relaxed and ready for the day ahead.
Feeling refreshed, Lucy made her way downstairs, the enticing aroma of breakfast wafting through the air. As she entered the kitchen, she found Austin standing at the stove, flipping pancakes with a focused expression.
“Good morning, chef!” Lucy greeted him, a smile spreading across her face.
Austin turned, his eyes lighting up as he caught sight of her. “Morning! I hope you’re hungry because I made a stack of pancakes just for you.”
Lucy couldn’t help but smile wider. “You’re the best! Pancakes are my favorite.”
He plated a generous stack and set it on the table, along with fresh fruit and maple syrup. “I figured we could start the day off right,” he said, pouring two glasses of orange juice.
