The next morning, the soft light of dawn filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow across the room. Lucy stirred awake, the warmth of Austin’s embrace still wrapping around her like a cozy blanket. She smiled, feeling a rush of gratitude for the peaceful night they had shared.

As she slowly opened her eyes, she noticed Austin still asleep, his face relaxed and serene. She took a moment to admire him, the way his hair fell across his forehead and how his lips curled into a faint smile even in slumber. It warmed her heart to see him so at peace.

With a soft sigh, Lucy carefully extricated herself from his arms, trying not to disturb him. She tiptoed to the bathroom, splashing her face with cool water to shake off the remnants of sleep. As she looked in the mirror, she felt a renewed sense of determination. Today was another opportunity for healing, and she was ready to embrace it.

After freshening up, Lucy made her way downstairs, the familiar sounds of the house waking up around her. The kitchen was still quiet, but the aroma of fresh coffee wafted through the air, promising a comforting start to the day. She poured herself a cup, savoring the rich scent as she leaned against the counter, taking a moment to breathe in the tranquility.

Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. Turning, she saw Austin coming down the stairs, his hair tousled and a sleepy grin on his face. “Good morning, sleepyhead,” she greeted, her voice brightening the room.

“Morning!” he replied, rubbing his eyes. “Did you make coffee without me?” He feigned shock, placing a hand over his heart in mock betrayal.

Lucy laughed, holding up her cup. “Just a little. I couldn’t wait for you to wake up!”

Austin chuckled, walking over to pour himself a cup. “You know I can’t resist coffee in the morning. It’s practically my lifeblood.” He took a sip, closing his eyes in bliss. “Ah, that’s perfect.”

They settled at the kitchen table, sipping their coffee in comfortable silence. The sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the room and casting a warm glow over everything. Lucy felt a sense of peace wash over her, grateful for these quiet moments shared with Austin.

“So, what’s on the agenda for today?” Austin asked, leaning back in his chair, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Lucy thought for a moment, her mind racing with possibilities. “I was thinking I might try some light stretching and maybe start that book I’ve been meaning to read.” She paused, gauging his reaction. “What do you think?”

“That sounds perfect,” he said, nodding encouragingly. “Just take it easy, okay? I want you to focus on your recovery.”

She smiled, appreciating his concern. “I will, I promise. And maybe later, we could go for a short walk together? Fresh air always helps.”

Austin grinned, his eyes lighting up. “Absolutely! A walk sounds great. I’ll even bring the coffee to go.”

As they finished their breakfast, Lucy felt a swell of happiness. The simple moments they shared made her feel grounded and supported. After clearing the table, she headed to the living room, eager to start her day.

Once settled on the couch with her book, she felt a sense of anticipation. The story awaited her, and she was ready to dive in. Just as she opened it, her phone buzzed with a notification. Curious, she picked it up and saw a message from Olivia: *“Good morning! Are you free for brunch? I’d love to catch up more!”*

Lucy’s heart leaped at the thought of spending more time with her friend. She quickly replied, *“Yes! That sounds amazing. Let’s do it!”*

Moments later, Olivia responded, *“Great! I’ll pick you up in an hour. Can’t wait!”*
