The next morning, Lucy woke up feeling a bit off, a dull ache settling in her head. She turned to look at Austin, who was peacefully asleep beside her, his chest rising and falling gently. With a soft sigh, she gently shook him.

Austin stirred awake, blinking sleep from his eyes. He looked at her, a sleepy smile spreading across his face. “Morning, baby,” he said, his voice warm and inviting.

Lucy didn’t respond right away. Instead, she sat up slowly, holding her head in her hands, trying to shake off the discomfort.

Austin’s smile faded as he noticed her expression. He sat up, concern etched on his face. “Baby, is something wrong?”

Lucy managed to whisper, “I don’t feel well.”

His brow furrowed, and he reached out, brushing her hair back from her forehead. “What’s wrong? Is it just a headache?”

She nodded slightly, her voice barely above a whisper. “Yeah, it feels like a fog in my head... and my stomach isn’t great either.”

Austin’s heart sank. “Okay, let’s take care of you. Do you want some water? Maybe some toast?”

Lucy nodded again, grateful for his concern. “That would be nice.”

He quickly swung his legs over the side of the bed, his movements filled with purpose. “I’ll be right back,” he said, giving her a reassuring smile before heading to the kitchen.

As he moved around, Lucy leaned back against the pillows, closing her eyes for a moment. She appreciated how attentive Austin was, always ready to help. A few minutes later, he returned with a glass of water and a slice of toast, carefully setting them on the bedside table.

“Here you go,” he said, handing her the glass. “Take small sips.”

Lucy took a sip, the cool water soothing against her dry throat. “Thank you,” she murmured, feeling a bit better just having him there.

Austin sat beside her, watching her with concern. “Just rest for a bit. I’ll take care of everything else today.”

She smiled weakly, touched by his kindness. “You always know how to make me feel better.”

“Of course,” he replied, his voice soft. “You’re my priority. Just focus on getting better, okay?”

With that, Lucy took another sip of water, feeling grateful for the love and support surrounding her. Despite feeling unwell, the warmth of Austin’s presence made everything a little easier to bear.

Just as Lucy sat up to try and eat her toast, a sudden realization dawned on her. She had been so excited about having time alone with Austin the night before that she had completely forgotten to take her thyroid meds.

Panic flickered across her face as she looked at Austin. “Baby, I just remembered something,” she said, her voice tinged with urgency.

Austin turned to her, concern immediately etched on his features. “What is it?”

“I forgot to take my thyroid medication last night,” she admitted, her heart racing. “I can’t believe I let that slip my mind!”

Austin’s expression softened as he took her hand in his. “It’s okay, Lucy. Let’s just focus on getting you back on track. When’s the next dose due?”

She thought for a moment, her brow furrowing. “I usually take it in the morning, but I missed it last night, so I should take it now.”

“Do you have it here?” he asked, scanning the room for her medicine.
