The bell for lunch rung and you were hoping to try your best to get out of sitting with Sting and the others. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be so simple. Yukino found you in the swarm of people as class let out, and she held on to your arm as she escorted you to their usual eating place. The boys were already there, saving seats for the two of you. She sat you down next to Sting, and took the seat in front of you, and then pulled out her bento box and started to eat. She had a look of accomplishment on her face, but you weren't sure what for. You would ignore it for now.
"Tell me more about the fancy school." Sting asked as he shoved a piece of sushi into his mouth.
"It wasn't that fancy. Lisanna was exaggerating." You waved it off. "It was just a bunch of spoiled rich and gifted kids collected into one school."
"Oh yeah, isn't your dad some kind of business man?" Yukino tilted her head a bit.
"Yeah, something like that." You sighed.
"So what was Lisanna saying earlier? Do you not have a good relationship with your dad?" Rogue questioned you, looking genuinely interested.
"It's not exactly that, but—"
"You're closer with your mother, aren't you?" Rufus smiled a bit. "They always say artists were always closer to their mother."
"Who... in the world says that?" Yukino looked at Rufus as if he was stupid. He simply shrugged, and took a sip from his drink.
"I mean, I was close with mom, but... I don't know, she liked Lucy more than me." You laughed it off.
"Oh, I'm sure that's not true." Yukino shook her head. Sting seemed somewhat interested in the conversation.
"It was always mom and Lucy. Lucy looks just like her." You smiled, thinking of your mom. "But because mom had Lucy... I got dad by default."
"Wait, 'had?' What do you mean by that?" Sting raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, sorry. What I mean is that Lucy resembles mom so much, and acts so much like her. Always leading with her heart, I love that about her." You smiled to yourself. You loved your sister, you truly did. And after mom had died, it only brought the two of you closer, and Lucy took it upon herself to be the one to look out for you, since your father was incredibly selfish and too absorbed into his work.
"What does that have to do with claiming a child for oneself?" Rufus raised an eyebrow.
"When Lucy started getting older, she didn't really... well... uhm... how should I put this..." You thought a moment, but felt awkward with all of them staring at you. "He loves Lucy, but he doesn't really 'like' her. Dad thinks Lucy is a rebel, and is only doing it to piss him off."
"That is probably the most ridiculous thing I've heard." Sting rolled his eyes. "Why doesn't your mom talk some sense into him?"
"I wish she could, but uhm... she died when I was younger."
"Oh, you poor thing." Yukino reached across the tables for your hands. "Sting, how could you!"
"How was I supposed to know!? If it makes you feel any better Y/n, my dad is dead too."
"In what world would that make her feel better, you dumb blond!?" Rogue would hit him upside the head, and the two would begin to bicker. Rufus and Orga seemed to have placed bets on who would win the argument, while Yukino was attempting to comfort you. You laughed nervously, and expertly removed your hands from hers.
As you assured her that you were alright, you happened to catch a glimpse of Lucy and her friends across the room eating their lunch. Not surprisingly, Lucy had been watching you, and when she saw that you noticed her, she started making faces at you. Specifically, kissy faces. And then her friend, Cana, started to do what looked like hip thrusts. You were absolutely humiliated.
"What are you looking at?" Sting asked looking at you, after his bickering with Rogue ended. Sting went to follow your gaze, but you wanted to do everything in your power to stop that. Just as he was turning his head, you placed both of your hands on his face, and made him turn his face back to you.
"D-Don't look over there!" You said, your face bright red, even more so than Erza's hair. Sting wore a blank expression, but then his famous smirk rose to his lips. You removed your hands, suddenly aware of how close the two of you were now. You were completely embarrassed. You hated it. You wanted to evaporate into thin air.
"Alright then. I'll just look at you." His smirk slowly made its way into a smile, but there was still a hint of it hidden in there somewhere. Your face got even more red if it was possible.
"Sting, you're our class's representative, not our class's playboy." Orga rolled his eyes at him. "I have that title."
"Yeah, right." Sting let out a laugh, but you were still so humiliated.
"Y/n, are you alright?" Yukino's voice suddenly rang through your ears, and you were even more embarrassed. What were you doing!?
You were sitting next to her boyfriend, touching his face and trying your best to be so friendly to and with him. Right in front of her! How careless and disrespectful you were being.
"I-I should go." You said quickly, standing up and trying to scurry away like a mouse on the kitchen floor. However, you couldn't even take three steps before Sting grabbed your wrist and pulled you back down.
"What for? Lunch isn't over yet. And speaking of, I don't think I even saw you eat." Sting crossed his arms, and put on a playfully annoyed face. "We have gym after this, we don't want a repeat of last time, right?"
"I forgot my lunch today, and I don't like the school's food." You lied. Sting narrowed his eyes at you, and then picked up the chopsticks that were in his bento box. He had three pieces of sushi left that he intended to save as a snack before practice. However, he picked one up, and held it to your mouth. "W-What are you doing?" You backed away from him slightly.
"Eat."
"B-But you already ate from it."
"I'm not sick or anything."
"But it's yours and—"
"And I want you to have it. So eat." He moved it closer to your mouth. You swallowed hard, and took a glance at Yukino. For some reason, she wore a smile even though her boyfriend was trying to feed some other girl. "Come on, Y/n. Even if it's just one piece."
You leaned forward, and took the piece of sushi into your mouth. As you were chewing, you heard snickering from the boys. You could feel the heat coming off of your face. There was no way you could come back from this one. But then you heard Yukino gasp, and clasp her hands together in excitement.
"Sting! Are you blushing!?"
"No way! You're seeing things!"
"You totally are!"
"Am not!"
