A stealth, espionage-oriented game within the Metal Gear series.

Is both a remake and combination of the original Metal Gear Solid and its sequel.

I'm going to go out and say that I couldn't get into this one, as I realized that quite early it wasn't my cup of tea.

I tried, but many of the game's mechanics just didn't work out for me, at least not yet.

I was stuck on the iconic intro sequence at the helipad, and I just didn't know how to proceed, let alone how to dispatch enemies. I don't know whether it was the controls, or if my knowledge surrounding how to play games like these is just nonexistent despite playing video games my whole life, but it just didn't click with me.

Saving is obtuse, even if it is done tastefully since you need to input specific numbers into your codex to save, which is kind of a problem if you forget the numbers after the Colonel tells you, especially after a long time away from the game and if you don't possess the game's booklet regardless of the fact that the internet exists.

I...choked an enemy guard...I guess?

The furthest I went was in a ventilation system, in which I couldn't find an item in my inventory to light it up since it was so unbelievably dark. This came to the point which I decided to light cigarettes even though they degraded Snake's health. Then I decided to call it quits.

I might just be ridiculous and don't know how to play the game, or, well, it didn't explain anything. Either way, it didn't mesh well with me at all.

Even fans of the series have issues with this version of the game, but I would like to say this is a case similar to Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, in which, even though the title isn't the most...prestigious, it is still a good game and wouldn't feel out of place in a fan's collection.

However, exclusivity and the very high price point makes this only for fans of the original, and even then, it is just good, which at least says a lot given that the series might never return for an original entry.

Also, not my taste at this point, but it could be one of those games that you have to learn fully to enjoy. Some of those games are even on this list, but I haven't figured out this one yet.

I will crack this game...someday.
