A 3D RPG hack-n-slash game based on the Peter Jackson film of the same name.

Yes, this is easily one of the best Lord of the Rings games to play and the highest on this list.

For one, this game has full co-op, meaning you and another could play as the Fellowship or Sam and Frodo on the way to either stop the evil forces of Sauron or destroy the One Ring, and it is glorious.

There are three distinct campaigns that intersect at the end. One involving Gandalf, another with Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas, and third stealth-based one with Sam and Frodo, with each playing differently.

With experience points earned after each mission that you could either spend for an individual or for all characters, it is genuinely fun.

You could either be blasting monsters with magic with Gandalf the White, shooting arrows with Legolas, cutting down hordes of orcs as Aragon or Gimli, or sneaking around enemies or the Balrog with the One Ring as Sam and Frodo, with pretty lengthy levels too.

Great production values, graphics, and gameplay, this is a must play for fans of the Trilogy.

However here are definitely issues with this one unfortunately.

For starters, this game is significantly less stellar when played solo and there is no balancing to compensate for it. The levels are also brutal and really hard to an almost absurd degree, as the campaign with the trio of Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas easily being the most difficult even with another person. The characters are also very unbalanced with Legolas and Gandalf easily being better than the rest of the Fellowship in the action-focused campaigns.

Also, if by some slight chance you aren't a fan of the Lord of the Rings films, then I don't think that this will win you over.

But even then, it is still a smashing time, and definitely one of the better licensed games out there. For its low price, fans of Tolkien's work will find great enjoyment of this surprisingly well-made experience.
