Based on the animated movie of the same name.
Yes, this is based on a movie from Disney.
Actually, I think that this movie is actually one of their more underrated works, even if the actual Robinson family don't have much in terms of character development even if they are charming and the animation haven't aged the best as one of Disney's, not Pixar's, first 3D ventures.
As for the game itself? Well, it...exists.
This game is a perfectly serviceable kids game with some platforming, although the story being somewhat of a prequel to the film, even if it is one of the more overlooked movies in their catalogue, is kind of baffling if you think about it.
However, if you play with a controller that does not function properly, especially one of the very poorly made third party ones, you likely aren't going to get far in this game.
There is a moment rather early in the game in which you gain this new ability (I can't recall which one) and you are testing it in the train station within the Robinson Manor (yes, they literally have one in their house). However, the big problem here is this is a first-person-used item that requires the Z button, which, to my experience, is one of the buttons that is the easiest to malfunction on third party controllers and even some Nintendo ones. The issue is that in the tutorial for this tool in the train station, you have to press the Z button in order to use it, as otherwise, you soft lock the game and can't continue, which is admittedly kind of a dumb oversight on the developers' part.
This likely stumped many players back then, including myself unfortunately...
Either way, this game is inoffensive and isn't terrible, but is still a licensed game at the end of the day and of a movie that many people haven't watched yet, so it likely will have very limited appeal.
Only buy if morbidly interested.
