Far Away from Tulsa from The Outsiders

A/N: Hey everyone. So sorry for the cliffhanger and the wait. I am back with a new chapter and I thank you all for your patience. Anyways please enjoy the next chapter of 8 Days, 8 Letters.

Present Day: May 1900

Jack's POV

I heard the faint hum of electricity. My head was pounding but the place was too quiet for my curiosity to not want to look. Thankfully, the room wasn't too bright, however, the glimpses of sunlight through the cracks in the wall still caused me to wince.

I seemed to be in some sort of abandoned building. Yellow-faded wallpaper slowly peeled off the walls. A drop fell on my head. I looked up and saw wet patches forming on the ceiling.

My head started thumping louder. I went to rub my temples but heard metal moving with me. I looked down at my wrists and saw chains holding me to the wall.

I pulled at the chains frantically hoping to free myself from the wall, but got distracted by a faint chuckling.

I slowly turned my head up and stared into the cold eyes of my father.

"Trying to leave me again Francis?" he quipped. "Don't bother."

"Well maybe I'll stick around for a while. Maybe so long it'd seem like I'm being held hostage in this real inviting place you's got here," I bitterly laughed.

Elias Sullivan: ... Trying to be funny and stuck in a room
There isn't much more to say about it
Can one be funny when stuck in a room?

... Being in, trying to get something out of it
Try making faces
Try telling jokes, making little sounds, uh

He walked over to stand over me

... I was a kid who was stuck in his room
There isn't much more to say about it

His mouth twisted into a wide, creepy smile.

When you're a kid and you're stuck in your room
You'll do any old shit to get out of it

He shook his head and continued to mock me. I turned my head away from him. What is wrong with him.

Try making faces
Try telling jokes, making little sounds

His hand roughly grabbed my face and made me look him in the eye.

... Well, well
Look who's inside again
Went out to look for a reason to hide again

He slapped my cheek, causing me to bite it. I could feel the blood trickle into my mouth as the taste of pennies filled it.

Well, well
Buddy, you found it
Now, come out with your hands up
We've got you surrounded

He pointed his hands like guns, mocking the cops who took him. I spit on the ground trying to get rid of the metallic taste consuming my tongue.

"Real nice cage ya got for me, dad," I cocked. "Too bad I's get the place all to myself."

He kept his back to me as he lingered at the doorway.

"Don't worry, you's won't be alone for long."

"What does that mean?" I asked, worriedly.

But before I could finish my sentence, he was gone.

I must have fallen asleep, but I got woken up by a thump and a muffled groan.

I looked over to see a delirious Spot Conlon. What could my father want with him?
