Jessi's POV

"Cameron?" I heard Lyla gasp, and I was almost too nervous to look up. The redness of my face was literally glowing.

The moment I found the courage to look up, what I thought to be a shocked Lyla was a smiling one instead.

I squinted my eyes, looking over to an even more confused Cameron.

His mouth was open in attempt to say something.

"I've been waiting for this moment." She nodded, huffing.

She turned her heel, and walked out of the room, leaving me even more confused.

Cameron grabbed my hand while standing up, pulling me towards the direction of the door.

"I don't know what that was all about." Cameron said.

So, Cameron and I sneak off to a random bedroom at his own "girlfriend's" (or whatever you want to call her) house, and she somehow catches us, and she doesn't seem affected by it in any way. If anything, she looked happy.

I adjusted my shirt before I could even take a glance at Lyla or her father.

Once Cameron and I had reached the living room, Julian and Lyla's dad were already staring, wide eyes.

"Jessi." Julian rubbed her temples, "I'm sorry."

I knitted my eyebrows, not having time to speak.

"I just didn't know what else to do, okay? Can you understand that?" She walked closer to me.

"Jul-" I began, so lost out of my mind at the second.

"I'm just sorry." A tear ran down her cheek, "You were never suppose to find out."

"Find out what?" Cameron and I both said at the exact same time, our hands still tightly locked together.

"Julian hired my daughter to date you." Lyla's dad said to Cameron, his jaw falling to the ground along with mine.

"You- you planned this?" I spat at Julian.

"Why are you so mad?" Lyla asked, shrugging her shoulders.

I was at loss for words.

"I had to do it, Jessi. You were miserable."

I nodded, feeling so stupid. How didn't I catch this? Am I really this stupid?

Cameron looked more pissed off than me.

"Can we explain?" Lyla's dad asked.

"Go for it." I said, crossing my arms.

"I'll explain." Julian said, "Listen Jessi, I feel like this was all my fault- you and Cameron breaking up. I knew how happy you guys were." She breathed.

"Believe it or not, you were miserable, and don't get me wrong, I was- am too. Living without your father isn't something I'd rather do." She looked down. "All those times I was going out to dinner with dates, I was really looking for someone who I could pay to-"
