Reckless
Jeff stood by the window, his fingers brushing against the cool glass as he stared at the phone in his hand. It had been a long time since he’d spoken to his brother. The distance, both emotional and physical, had grown between them ever since Jeff had made the decision to be with Bible.
His heart ached just thinking about it. Family had always been everything to him, but now, with Bible, he had something deeper. Something that he wasn’t ready to lose.
Taking a deep breath, Jeff dialed his brother’s number. The phone rang once, twice… three times. His pulse quickened. When the call was finally answered, he could already sense the coldness in his brother’s voice.
“What is it, Jeff?” His brother’s tone was distant, almost indifferent.
“I’m getting married,” Jeff said quietly, each word heavy with emotion. “I wanted to let you know.”
There was a long silence on the other end. Jeff waited, his heart racing as he imagined what his brother might say. But when the response came, it was not the one he hoped for.
“You’re still making this mistake, huh?” his brother finally spoke, the disdain clear in his words. “I told you before. I can’t support this. You’ve chosen him. And you know what that means.”
Jeff’s hand tightened around the phone. “I know. But I’m not asking for your approval. I just thought… I thought you should know.”
“You’re wasting your time, Jeff. He’ll never be what you think he is. And you’ll be sorry when you see it,” his brother said sharply, before hanging up without another word.
The line went dead, and Jeff was left staring at the phone in disbelief. His brother’s rejection cut deeper than he wanted to admit. But even as the weight of his words settled in, a sense of calm washed over him.
He wasn’t the same person he was before. And even if his family couldn’t accept his love for Bible, Jeff knew deep down that this was where he was meant to be. With Bible.
Looking over at the bed where Bible had just stepped out of the shower, his heart swelled. Bible was more than just a lover—he was the one who’d saved him from a life of darkness.
Jeff had made his choice, and despite the hurt, he would never regret it.
Jeff walked into the kitchen, still reeling from the conversation with his brother. His mind raced, and he needed a moment to cool down. He grabbed a glass from the counter, but as he was about to pour water, the sharp sound of Tong and Apo’s mocking laughter filled the room. He froze, sensing the tension.
"Look at him," Tong sneered, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Walking around like he’s someone important. I guess he didn’t mind selling himself to Bible, huh?"
Apo chuckled, his voice cruel. "It’s pathetic. He used to have some dignity, but now? He’s nothing more than a toy for Bible to play with. A pretty face with no self-respect."
Jeff’s grip on the glass tightened, but he didn’t turn away. Instead, he slowly turned to face them, a smirk creeping onto his lips. His eyes locked onto theirs, and for a moment, he felt power surge within him.
"Is that what you think?" Jeff said, his smirk growing wider. "You’ve got a lot to say for someone who doesn’t know a damn thing about me or my relationship."
Tong leaned against the counter, folding his arms and eyeing Jeff with mock pity. "Oh, I know enough. You’re still here because you’ve got nowhere else to go. Or maybe you’re just addicted to whatever Bible’s giving you."
