Lucia's POV
„Lu!... Lucia!... LUCIA AMOR!..." I was currently lounging around on the sofa when Pablo screamed my name from the bathroom. Silently, I rolled my eyes with a grin, wondering what now the urgency for his screams were.
„What?" I asked with a giggle once I stood in front of the bathroom door, listening closely to understand him properly.
„Pablo Merino invited us to his wedding on Saturday!"
Pablo Merino was his physiotherapist, to whom he had a very close relationship to. Merino helped him get physically stronger over the months and turn him into the player he is today. Apparently, he postponed their wedding a whole (!) week, only so that Pablo and I could attend too. If the wedding took place on the original date, Pablo still would've been in Germany, competing for the gold medal.
That's how we ended up at one of the prettiest weddings I've ever been to, a day before leaving for Santorini. It was kind of stressful to find an appropriate dress in such a short time, but as I had been to a few sporting events, I found a pretty alternative somewhere in the back of my closet.
Pablo drove us to the venue which was located on a nice vineyard in the suburbs of Barcelona. Once we got there, Pablo's two teammates Iñigo and Ansu made us loosen up relatively quickly.
As the night progressed, we were all dancing and singing, occasionally swinging the napkins when Pablo Merino and his wife were on the dance floor during their first dance.
Not only did they look beautiful together, but I knew it wanted this moment sometime in my life too.
Pablo and his wife's love spread through the whole tent, making relatives and friends stand up to dance alongside with them. It felt like a moment from a movie - the sounds of the traditional Spanish music blasted throughout the venue while light and glitter decorated the whole atmosphere.
During all the festivities I was talking to Iñigo's wife, while we were swaying from side to side with a glass of champagne in our hands. She was a lovely woman, sharing nothing but her love and kindness for the newly married couple.
„And what about you two lovebirds? Iñigo always gushes when he sees you and Pablo."
„We're doing great! Pablo is still over the moon with Spain's win of the Euros, but tomorrow we'll fly to Santorini to spend the week there." Nerea smiled widely, nodding her head while I was talking over the loud music.
„One might think you two are going on a honeymoon after tonight!" She joked, making my cheeks heat up at the thought of it.
„We still have time for that later. Now we'll do a honeymoon without actually being married." I laughed but loved the thought of a wedding with the brunette boy I adored.
Our chat got interrupted by the sudden change of music, signaling it was time for the couples to take over the party people until it was their turn again. Much slower songs were played and a few individuals hushed off the dance floor.
Pablo stood on the other side of the room, comfortably sipping on his drink while Iñigo whispered something into his ear. While drinking, the brunette footballer glanced over to my direction, meeting my eyes in an instant. Before he could make my knees any weaker than he already did, Iñigo said something that must've made him feel embarrassed, breaking the intense eye contact.
For a short second he was laughing with his teammates at Iñigo's teasing, then placed his cup down and walked casually with his hands in his pockets towards me.
The air got stuck in my throat once Pablo reached me, even more when he put a lost strand of my hair behind my ear.
„Would you like to dance with me?" The brunette asked with a flirtatious voice, already intertwining his fingers with mine. Due to my boyfriend being absolutely irresistible, I didn't even realize Nerea left. She was already dancing to the slow music with her husband Iñigo a few feet away from us, giving me a quick wink.
