Today was my first official day at CV Barcelona. I was pretty nervous, but Gavi called me spontaneously last night, wishing me good luck. That made it a bit better.
I arrived at eight for a quick check up with Carlos. He once again showed me the training grounds for tomorrow's first practice and asked me if everything was alright. He then led me to my new locker room where I've met Elena and my new team mates.
„Lucia! Welcome!" Elena said, engulfing me in a quick hug. I greeted the other girls, already feeling much calmer than in the morning. Everyone was so nice to me, I can't wait to finally be training. We chatted for some minutes until the staff gave me my new equipment to change into.
After I put on my new training gear, my smile couldn't be wider. I was wearing the blaugrana colors officially, not just as a fan. I was now a part of the team.
A kind nurse asked me then to follow her for my medical exam. She was instructing me on what I had to do, so I carefully listened until I saw Frenkie de Jong walking past us in the hallway. I think the nurse caught on quickly as why I was furrowing my eyebrows so suddenly and chuckled.
„You didn't now the football players are in the same facility I suppose."
I only glared at her, feeling my heartbeat rise.
„I didn't, no." I admitted.
„Well, normally the football team is in another builing, but with the current renovations they had to move for this season."
I only hummed, my thoughts somewhere else. Would be pretty funny if I would meet Gavi here for the first time.
The nurse got serious again, now asking me to hop onto the treadmill. I did as I was told, and the exam started. It all went fairly well so far. An ultrasound scan came afterwards, then my body fat was measured.
Just as I was done with everything and was about to leave the room, a brown haired boy my age walked past me. I immediately recognized him, but turned by my heels and spun back around, so my back was facing the hallway. I don't even know why I reacted this way but I couldn't handle meeting Gavi like this. I probably looked like a tomato and utterly lost with everything going on.
Gavi's POV
I was walking around the facility, trying to find something to occupy myself with. I accidentally got here too early because I didn't see the text Xavi sent yesterday late at night. It was actually a good thing I was too early because I couldn't find my cleats anywhere. Normally, I would put them in my cupboard, but this morning they weren't there. As I was walking around I recalled Lucias and my phone call from yesterday. Since she called me a week ago, we picked up the habit to call instead of text. Still, I haven't had the chance to see her in person, or well, had the courage to ask her to hang out.
„How did you feel on your first day?" Lucia asked me, nervousness lingering in her voice.
I couldn't really tell her I already knew half of the team because of my short time at Barca B. I knew for a fact that this information wouldn't calm her down.
„I was scared. But after meeting the team I felt much calmer. I bet it will be the same for you, just enjoy it as much as you can." I tried to reassure her, but wasn't even sure myself. Lucia chuckled softly and I heard her shifting around, she was probably already in bed ready to get some rest.
„You should sleep now, you have a big day ahead."
„Goodnight Pablo." She spoke before hanging up, leaving me with a grin.
