Medicus nodded approvingly at Mer-mer's words. "Very well. Your training begins at dawn tomorrow. Get some rest - you'll need it."As the excitement died down, the gladiators began to disperse. Mer-mer and Shadow-cat found themselves being led to a small, cramped cell that would serve as their quarters.

As they made their way to the gladiators' quarters, Spartacus fell into step beside them. "You two fought well today," he said in a low voice. "But be careful. Not everyone here will welcome newcomers with such skill."Mer-mer's ears perked up. "What do you mean?"

Spartacus glanced around before continuing. "There are factions among the gladiators. Some see new blood as a threat to their position or chances of freedom. Watch your backs.

"With that ominous warning, he strode away, leaving Mer-mer and Shadow-cat to ponder his words as they entered the cramped, stuffy barracks.Once they were alone, Shadow-cat turned to Mer-mer with a serious expression. "That was impressive fighting out there, partner. But we can't lose sight of our true goal - finding a way back to our own time."

Mer-mer nodded grimly. "I know. But how? We're trapped in ancient Rome, slaves in a gladiator school. Even if we could escape, where would we go?"

Just then not long after Spartacus left, they heard footsteps approaching. Latina appeared at the entrance to their cell, her expression guarded.

Its like tonight everyone wants to... visit us , laughed Mer-mer.

"You two," she said quietly. "There's something you should know. I overheard Medicus talking to the Batiatus- the owner of this ludus. They have... special plans for you both."

Mer-mer felt a chill run down his spine. "What kind of plans?"

Latina glanced over his shoulder before continuing in a low voice. "They believe you possess some kind of power or knowledge. Something valuable. They intend to use you for more than just arena spectacles."

Shadow-cat's eyes narrowed. "How much do they know about us?"

"I'm not sure," Latina admitted. "But be cautious. Trust no one here completely - not even me."

With that ominous warning, she slipped away, leaving Mer-mer and Shadow-cat to ponder this new development in uneasy silence.

Shadow-cat's eyes gleamed in the dim light. "I have a theory," she said. "When Blackbeard captured us, I noticed something strange - a small device he wore around his neck. It glowed with an otherworldly light. I think it might be what brought us here."

Mer-mer sat up, his exhaustion forgotten. "You think Blackbeard has some kind of time travel device? But how? And why would he send us back in time?"

"I'm not sure," Shadow-cat admitted. "But I overheard him muttering something about 'Solaris' and 'the Three Realms' before we were sold. Whatever's going on, it's bigger than just us. We need to find that device - it might be our only way home."

Shadow-cat added seriously. . "I've been thinking about that. Remember what Barbarossa said about the Time Compass? If we could somehow get our paws on that, we might have a chance."

"But he said the parts were scattered across the Three Realms," Mer-mer pointed out. "How could we possibly hope to find them all?"

"One step at a time," Shadow-cat replied. "For now, we play along. We train, we fight, we survive. And we keep our eyes and ears open for any information that might help us. There has to be a way out of this mess."Mer-mer sighed, settling onto the thin pallet that would serve as his bed. "I hope you're right. Because if not, we might be stuck here for the rest of our lives - however short they turn out to be."

As they settled in for the night, both cats knew that the challenges ahead would test them like never before. But with determination, skill, and a bit of luck, they just might survive long enough to unravel the mystery of their displacement in time and find their way back where they belonged.

As they drifted off to an uneasy sleep, neither cat noticed the small, mechanical bird perched in the shadows outside their cell window. Its glowing red eyes recorded everything, transmitting the information back to its master...
