The tension crackled in the air as the group fell silent, straining to hear the approaching footsteps. Mer-Mer narrowed his eyes, focusing on the shadows around them, readying himself for whatever might come next.

"Stay alert," Shadow-Cat whispered, her ears twitching as they listened intently. The footfalls grew closer, unmistakably human but unsteady, as if the person was either injured or frightened.

"Easy now," the figure said, lifting their hands in a placating manner. "I mean you no harm."

Ragnar took a step forward, his dagger still gripped tightly. "Who are you?" he demanded. "Friend or foe? Speak quickly!"

The cloaked figure lowered their hood, revealing sharp features and piercing blue eyes that glimmered with an otherworldly light.

"I am Vespera," she announced confidently. "A healer and seeker of truth—and I have come to assist you in your fight against Solaris."

Latina narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "And how do we know you aren't one of his spies?"

Vespera smiled faintly, her expression unreadable. "Because I have been hunting him for years. I've seen the devastation he's wrought across the realms, and I want it to end just as much as you do."

Shadow-Cat stepped forward slightly. "What can you do? We have fought hard to gain our freedom; we're not about to trust anyone without proof."

Vespera's gaze swept over them all, assessing their readiness and resolve. "I can help you navigate through his network of automatons and find the location of Solaris' stronghold. He is preparing something terrible; pieces of ancient magic are being assembled for a ritual that could unleash chaos across all realms."

Mer-Mer's heart raced at this revelation; they knew they were running out of time but hadn't realized just how close Solaris was to executing his plans.

"We could use that information," Spartacus said slowly, exchanging looks with his companions. "But if you're going to help us, we'll need more than just words. We need a plan and resources."

Shadow-Cat exchanged glances with Mer-Mer, skepticism mingling with intrigue. "What do you offer?"

Vespera smiled faintly and lowered her staff slightly. "Knowledge. The path ahead is treacherous; Solaris is gathering strength for his next move. He knows you survived and will send more machines to hunt you down." She glanced at the defeated automatons scattered around them. "But there is more—hidden amongst his ranks are others who oppose him, rebels much like yourselves."

Spartacus straightened up at this news. "Rebels? Where can we find them?"

"The southern camp is where they gather," Vespera explained swiftly. "But first, you must recover your strength and resources before confronting Solaris again."

Ragnar took a step forward, finally finding his voice amidst the shock of their encounter. "And how do we do that? We can't just sit here waiting for him to come back."

Vespera waved her staff softly, causing shimmering lights to dance around them like fireflies in twilight. "Come with me; I can lead you to sanctuary where we can regroup and strategize without fear of detection."

Mer-Mer felt the swell of hope within him as he watched Vespera's presence ease some of the tension among his companions. "Alright," he said firmly. "But if this is another deception—"

"It is not," Vespera interrupted gently but firmly. "Time grows short; your enemies are relentless."

The adventurers stared, not believing their luck. Finally the luck was on their side!

"Agreed," Vespera continued, nodding earnestly. " First we rest, then tomorrow we will visit the old ruins beyond the city walls—there's a hidden entrance that leads underground where they keep some supplies and weaponry."

"What if Solaris finds out we're there?" Mer-Mer asked, his voice laced with concern.

"The path is shielded by enchantments—he won't see us coming," Vespera assured them. "But we must act quickly; every moment wasted brings him closer to completing his ritual."

Ragnar rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Sounds good! But what if we need more manpower?"

Vespera grinned slyly. "By tomorrow nightfall, when the moons align above the ruins, I will summon some allies—fellow seekers who share our purpose. Also, I know some in town , who can really help you. He is a watchmaker and understands different mechanisms. Maybe he can help you with the sentinels."

She paused for a moment, glancing at the field where dozens of sentinels were frozen in various poses.

"If we can fix them, we'll have an army with sentinels on our side..."

„That's great, „thought Latina..."Just I hope it's not trap..."

"This is wonderful!", exclaimed Mer-mer. "If this watchmaker understands axis mechanisms, he can not only repair the army of sentinels, but also see the bird-rock."

He hurriedly told Vesper how the bird-rock had saved them from the arena and how the weather had frozen.

"That was definitely Solaris' job, she said. "Only he could manipulate the time..."

"If we can fix the bird-rock, it will be a great help to our cause...",Mer-mer said excitedly.

The group exchanged glances filled with renewed determination; this could be the break they needed.

"Let's get back into the shadows," Spartacus said decisively. "We regroup and prepare for what comes next."

And they slipped deeper into the grove once more...
