Mer-mer cradled Kaz's limp form in his arms, his heart pounding with a maelstrom of emotions. In the midst of the chaos and destruction raining down around them, her whispered confession had struck him like a bolt of lightning. Love? She loved him?

He had always admired her fierce spirit, her grace and skill in battle. She moved like liquid shadow, striking with the precision of a viper. But he had never dared to hope that she might feel something deeper for him. After all, he was just a street thief turned reluctant hero - what could he offer a creature as magnificent as she?

But now, with her life flickering like a guttering candle, he realized the depth of his own feelings. The thought of losing her, of never again seeing the mischievous glint in her emerald eyes or hearing her throaty purr of laughter, tore at his soul like the claws of a demon.

"Kaz," he whispered, brushing a strand of blood-matted fur from her brow. "Don't you dare leave me. Not now, not when we've come so far."

The palace shuddered and groaned around them like a mortally wounded beast. Mer-mer's friends  stood by his side, their faces full with sadness and desperation.

Mer-mer stood as if frozen, clutching the unconscious Kaz in his arms. In his heart beat an ocean of wild feelings. Love, fear, desperation - they all swirled within him like a raging tempest. Tears stung his eyes as he gazed down at her still face, willing her to open those captivating eyes once more.

"Don't leave me," he whispered brokenly. "Not now, not when I've finally found love."

Around them, the palace continued to crumble, massive blocks of stone raining down like the fists of an angry god. Ragnar and the princess staggered to Mer-mer's side, their faces etched with worry and despair.

"We have to move!" Ragnar shouted over the deafening cacophony of destruction. "The whole place is coming down!"

But Mer-mer couldn't tear himself away from Kaz. She was his whole world in that moment, the only thing that mattered. The thought of losing her was more than he could bear.

Suddenly, a sound like the very fabric of reality tearing apart rent the air! A massive shape burst through the crumbling walls of the throne room, sending chunks of masonry flying like leaves in a gale. Mer-mer looked up, his jaw dropping in disbelief at the sight before him.

A colossal serpent, its scales gleaming with the iridescence of mother-of-pearl, reared up over the ruins of the palace. Its eyes, each as big as a wagon wheel, blazed with an eldritch light that seemed to pierce the very soul. Gargantuan fins, translucent and delicate as gossamer despite their immense size, rippled along its sinuous length.

The great beast opened its maw, revealing rows of dagger-like teeth as long as a man's arm. An ear-splitting roar shook the very heavens as the serpent dove downward, smashing through buildings as if they were kindling. The earth trembled and buckled under the onslaught, and screams of pure terror filled the air.

"By the forgotten gods," the princess breathed, her face pale with shock. "It's Leviathan, the Scourge of the Deeps! But how? What has unleashed this ancient horror upon us?"

As if in answer, a chilling laugh cut through the pandemonium. All eyes turned to see two figures standing atop a crumbling tower, their forms silhouetted against the smoke-choked sky.

"Gnash!" Shadow-cat exclaimed weakly, relief and hope warring in her voice. "And Maleficent too!"

The witches were a sight to behold, their faces grim with determination. Power crackled around them in an almost tangible aura, their eyes glowing with arcane might. Gnash raised her staff, the ancient wood thrumming with barely contained energy...

Ragnar's voice trembled with fear and anger as he shouted at Maleficent, "Gnash, what madness has possessed you? Have you gone completely insane?"

Maleficent threw her head back and cackled, a wicked gleam in her eye. "Insane? No, my dear friend. We are merely making a wise choice," she replied.

Gnash interjected with an eerie grin, "I must admit, I was having quite a bit of fun with you. Especially when I turned someone into frogs."

The princess gasped in horror as Maleficent raised her scepter, causing the monstrous beast that had approached them to stop in its tracks and begin grooming itself, eyeing them with a predatory hunger.

"Why?" the princess asked, her voice shaking.

Maleficent raised her staff and the monster growled, ready to do her bidding. "Solaris promised to give us back our youth," she hissed.

"But that is impossible," protested the princess. "No amount of power can bring back what is lost."

"Ah, but Solaris possesses the Compass of Time!" Maleficent exclaimed triumphantly.

"The legendary artifact?" the princess cried in disbelief.

"Yes, my dear. And not only does it exist, but Solaris has already found several pieces of it. What you see today is only the beginning," Maleficent declared with a sinister smile.

The ground shook beneath their feet again and the princess shivered at the thought of what destruction awaited them. "This isn't just an earthquake?" she asked fearfully.

"No," Maleficent smirked. "Solaris has opened temporary portals to other worlds - the Beast World, Shadow World, and Demon World. This monster before you is just a taste of what's to come."

Mer-mer clutched the unconscious Shadow-cat tightly in his arms and moaned, "They'll destroy everything and everyone..."

Gnash interrupted, "Not if you join our side. Solaris will spare those who serve him."

Ragnar's eyes blazed with defiance. "Never! I'd rather die than be a servant of a necromancer!"

"Such bravery," Maleficent mocked, raising her staff. "But it will be your downfall."

Mer-mer kissed Shadow-cat's forehead and whispered, "Sleep deeply, my love. I will not let them take you away from me."

He then turned to Maleficent, his face hardened with determination. "Take my soul instead. Life without my beloved is no life at all."

Gnash wiped a tear from his eye and pleaded with his sister, "What a tragedy! Please, sister. Let us spare them and show kindness!"

"No!" Maleficent snapped. "Their fate will be a warning to all who dare to defy Solaris' power."

She raised her staff high and chanted in an ancient tongue:

"O serpent grand,

from abysses high,

We bow in awe,

as shadows lie.

Thy strength we praise,

in reverence true,

 With humble hearts,

our offerings anew,

Of valiant souls,

in conflict's dance,

Untouched by loss,

in fate's expanse."

The ground shook violently as a massive serpent emerged from the earth, its eyes glowing like fiery rubies. Its gaze fell upon Ragnar and his companions, ready to devour them at Maleficent command...
