Grace's POV

"Mum can we please give Jake alcohol? I want to see what he's like drunk." I begged my mum.

We were walking back from Jake's surprise party and heading over towards the ice cream parlour. Probably one of my favourite parts of anyone's birthday.

The sun was still out, but the sky was starting to turn pink into orange, as the day was starting to end.

"No." I mum rolled her eyes. Again.

As Jake is now an adult and the legal age to start drinking, I really want to see how he'll react to it all. Plus, he'll probably only need like a glass of whatever. It's not like he's built up a tolerance for alcohol yet.

My dear Jake over here didn't seem to care at all. In fact, he was laughing at me actually wanting to do all this.

"What if I'm a mean drunk?" Jake wondered aloud.

"Well we'll find out."

"But then you'll regret getting me drunk." He pointed out.

I shook my head. "Nope."

I wanted to see this happen. I needed to see this happen.

"Maybe another day." Jake shrugged.

Ugh.

"Fine." I pouted.

Jake put an arm over my shoulder and pulled me to his side and I had to try real hard to keep pouting. How dare he be cute when he won't let me see him drunk?

People these days.

My mum, also being the weirdo she was kept glancing back at us with a smile on her face. Shouldn't it be a scowl or something? Maybe an "I need a minimum distance of 3 metres at all times please."

We sat down with our ice creams when we got to the parlour, just wanting to sit down instead of walking around again because well, it did get tiring.

All three of us chose our favourite ice cream flavour; my mum's was strawberry, mine was caramello chocolate (thank you Cadbury), and Jake's was mint chocolate chip. I scrunched my nose up at Jake's choice as he took a big bite out of it.

"What?" He mumbled, his mouth full of the ice cream.

"That's disgusting." I told him, referring to his flavour.

Jake swallowed his mouthful before speaking this time thankfully. Though to be honest it was my fault for asking him while he was eating.

Just like those darn people at the dentists. Like mate, you have who knows what kind of metal equipment in my mouth right now and you want me to keep it open and tell you how my day was.
