Grace's POV

I had been decorating the house all morning and I still wasn't quite sure if it looked right. If you couldn't already tell, this was the day of the party for Mrs Halloway's eight year old daughter. There were purple, pink and white streamers and balloons everywhere, even in the places that the guests would walk through to get to the party room. Our backyard was big enough to have a blow up fairy castle and a trail of mushrooms to walk across. I dusted off my hands and looked around proudly at my work.

"Wow cupcake. I must say, you aim to please." Jake said, coming up from behind me and hugging my back, resting his head on my shoulder.

"I try. You think she'll like it?" I asked referring to Tiffany, the eight year old girl.

"Of course she will Grace! When has a customer ever been disappointed?"

He had a point. My mum started allowing me to handle these parties in the first place when I wasn't busy ever since I had taken over one when she was sick. My mum walked into the house carrying the grocery bags with the items for the party bags. She looked exhausted. Her face was red, her shirt crinkled all over and her hair was all over her face.

"Okay I have the lollies, party hats, a few toys like bouncy balls and such." She paused to look up at me. "Is that all?"

"Yes mum, that's great thanks."

She nodded and headed off to the kitchen to make sure all the food was ready to give out and the food that needed heating was well, heating. Anytime, a group of about ten girls were about to come over. Mrs Halloway had to head out for work so she wasn't going to come. Apparently Tiffany's older brother was taking her. I wouldn't expect him to stay though either seeing this party is probably too girly for him.

A knock at the door told me that our guests had arrived and Jake went to get the door while I ran to tell mum. I stuck my head through the door quickly saying they arrived and headed over to Jake. All the girls entered excitedly and I lead them though to outside to play around. We'd start the party games soon after I ran over to mum to grab the piñata. Mr and Mrs Halloway requested a fairy one. This confuses me. Why would they want to hit a fairy if they loved them? I guess you'd beat up anything when it came to candy.

I almost choke on the sight in front of me. Chocking on what? Who knows. The sight before me however was absolutely surprising. At the moment, I was staring at the view of Jake talking to Chris at the door. Jake probably didn't realise who he was talking to but he was about to.

"Chris?" I stood there looking dumbfounded by the two at the door.

"Hey Grace." He smiled.

"Woah woah woah woah." Jake waved his hands in the air then pointed at Chris. "This is Chris? As in the Chris?" He asked, his jaw hanging open.

"Yep." I grinned at him. Jake nodded silently. By the look on his face he had decided on something.

"Okay." He looked over at Chris, his expression turning serious. "You have to go mate."

"What?" Chris and I both asked.

"Well I'm sorry but I don't want to talk to a baboon's ass anymore so please, go find another girl to play with."

My mouth hung open at his words before I composed myself and slapped him over the head. I took Chris' hand and led him to where the party was happening and gave him a quick apology. I may have said something along the lines of 'sorry Jake was clearly dropped, hit the ceiling fan and chucked out the window as a baby.'

"Okay girls, if you want to have a go at hitting the piñata, please line up." The girls all rushed to make a line in front of me besides the old tree. I turned my head over to Chris and Jake who were sitting at one of the tiny pink tables. I chuckled at the sight of them. They almost looked like giants compared to those sparkly seats.
