Grace's POV
I could smell something. It almost seemed salty but like with a slight burning smell... Someone was cooking. Or at least trying to.
I sat up in my bed and pulled the bed sheet off me, stepping onto the cold floor beneath me. I quickly tied my hair up into a messy pony tail without bothering to brush it so my hair wasn't all over my face. I was still in my pyjamas but I probably wouldn't get out of them until maybe 11am. It was Saturday after all.
Taking my time in walking over to where the smell of food was coming from, I couldn't keep the smile off my face. Last night was amazing. Chris was even more amazing.
I knew right now Chris and I were just friends (though I did have the option to make us more) but he almost seemed too perfect. Obviously not everyone was perfect. I go to the beach though and by some chance a really good looking guy happens to run into me and asks me out as an apology? Me of all people? I'm not saying I'm ugly but I'm not beautiful either.
He might have had another reason to ask me of all people. Maybe it was a dare or he had some sort of background or personality that people always ran away from him. I might just be gullible and naïve.
I had so much to think about. I would probably tell him no because we just met and I wanted to get to know him more. I don't think he would be mad at me for that. Technically I'm asking him to ask me to be his girlfriend later. That's not a full rejection.
When I got to the kitchen I say Jake standing at the stove, cooking what looked like bacon and eggs. Bacon...
"Morning Gracie." He turned around and smiled at me. Slight dimples appeared on his cheeks and it looked adorable. I wasn't one usually all for dimples but heck, it was quite cute.
By the looks of it, Jake was still in his pyjamas too. You couldn't really call them that though. It was basically sweatpants and no shirt. Hardly pyjamas at all.
Jake liked to "work out" I guess. Which explains the slight muscles in his arms, the abs and so on. If I was him, I probably wouldn't be wearing a shirt either. Got to admire the hard work, right?
What I love though was his hair. His brown hair was a mess, letting you know he just woke up. It looked really soft too. I love running my fingers through it. It's like a soft pillow except I can't really hug his hair. That would be weird...
My pajamas were not that much to fuss over really. Just some black shorts with a grey t-shirt that had a picture of Cookie Monster on it saying "I want all the cookies." The Cookie Monster was legit okay? No judging.
"Morning Jake." I sat down on the stool behind the bench. "Whatcha got there?" I asked him.
"Just some bacon and eggs. I made some for your mum too in case she wanted any." He looked at the clock on the wall. "Actually she's almost late so I would say she probably would."
At that exact moment mum came rushing down to the kitchen, pulling on her jacket. She looked stressed and pretty much like she was freaking out.
"I had a meeting with Juliette about the cake materials at nine didn't I?" She asked and Jake and I both nodded.
"Shit. Okay well I better get going then. There's left over mac and cheese in the fridge for lunch and I'll be back in time for dinner okay?"
Jake handed her a plate of eggs and bacon for on the way and she thanked him before giving us a kiss on our heads and heading out the door. Once the door was shut behind her I looked over at Jake.
