Grace's POV
Tuesday came around and I had to find a way to get out of bed. I rolled over to get off my bed but stayed facing that way on my bed without moving again.
Well I tried...
"Grace you are the laziest little shit." My mother said as she walked into my room to hang some ironed clothes up in my closest. I just grunted in response.
"Come on get up. It's almost seven thirty." Then she walked out of my room.
My phone buzzed and I hid my face in my pillow. I think the world wanted me to get up today. Stupid world. Let me sleep!
I moved my hand outwards towards my bed-side table and moved my hand around until I felt my phone's cold surface. I pressed the on button at the top and lifted my head up to see the message.
"That's bright..." I mumbled to myself.
Really should turn the screen brightness down before I go to bed at night.
Hey cutie. Can't wait to see you today xx
Freaking Chris making me smile. It's too early for these feelings. Who makes people smile at 7am? I want to sleep for goodness sakes.
"Gracie get up." Were the lovely words Jake told me before he hit my face with a pillow.
"What no."
Thump."Jake stop-"
Thump."Seriously-"
Thump."Okay!" I yelled at him, sitting up whilst shielding my face. "I'm up."
"Good. You have half an hour before we get going." He grinned at me.
Asshole.
I got up and put my school uniform on, not bothering to shower. I had one last night, not like I did anything in between other than sleep to have to shower again. The only thing I wanted to do now was my hair. I just quickly put it in a ponytail and clipped my fringe back with a little strawberry clip after spraying my hair with some hair spray.Once that was done I headed down to the kitchen and put a piece of bread in the toaster so it would magically become… toast. How exciting.
My mum walked past into the kitchen to grab her phone and smiled at me.
“Nice to see you’ve finally risen from the dead.”
“I’m not a zombie mum.” I rolled my eyes.
“I don’t know, sometimes you make weird groaning noises Gracie.” I heard Jake yell from the lounge room. Of course he was listening. When it was ‘go clean the kitchen Jake’ or ‘you have to make your bed Jake’ he would never hear anything we said. If it was something amusing to him, about money or food he’d magically have grown ears and comes rushing into the conversation. Typical.
“Shut up Jake.” I tell him.
I went to grab my toast and put some avocado on it then finished it a couple of minutes later. Okay, maybe it didn’t take me that long to eat.
A few minutes after that though I was out the door and walking to school with Jake. Now when I walk to school with Jake as I have for many years, he’s either quiet which is usually when he’s sick but not sick enough to stay home or something’s wrong, he can’t stop talking which is most of the time, or he finds ways to annoy me and it’s a mixture of being quiet and then speaking a lot at once. In my opinion giving some time to leave my mind in its thoughts for a few minutes could result in murder.
Sadly today was the time where he was trying to annoy me. I really don’t know why he would possibly want to irritate someone he lives with and also how he doesn’t run out of things to say or do.
