Grace's POV

I probably woke up with the biggest grin on my face. I don't think I've ever smiled so much in my life before.

I don't think my head could wrap itself around the idea that Jake was actually my boyfriend. Out of my 17 years of being alive and the 10 years of Jake being my best friend, I never thought he of all people would be mine.

It wasn't totally outrageous. I just never imagined my best friend turning into my boyfriend. But I guess it did kind of make sense. I mean, he was the guy I was closest too. Why would I go out with someone who I didn't know as well when I had Jake?

Though I guess I did date Chris...

Obviously I didn't realise what an absolute cutie Jake was. Like honestly. I can't even describe just how much I love him right now.

As an example, right now I was in the kitchen making myself a piece of toast when Jake decided to come up behind me and give me a hug.

I think my heart is going to pop out of my chest.

"Morning." Jake kissed my cheek, his arms wrapping themselves tighter around my waist.

"Hey." I smiled, turning to look at him.

He looked happy as well.

"I realised this morning I'm going to have to tell your mum about us."

"Woah. Already skipping to meeting the parents I see." I laughed.

Jake sighed and buried his face in the crook of my neck.

"My parents would have loved you." He whispered.

"I'll take your word for it. If you want to, we could go visit them today?" I suggested.

He lifted his head up a little. "Yeah?"

"Of course." I told him.

Usually every 6 months of so Jake and I would go out to give his parents a small visit, and let them know what was happening and such. I know they're probably in a better place now but Jake always found it a bit easier to go say hi still.

Instead of thinking that he wishes he could tell his parents he got an A+ on a math exam (when he was 12) because he never was able to, we actually went down and told them. It almost seemed like a whole weight was lifted of his chest.

"Thank you." Jake smiled at me. "I can't wait to tell them the news."

"What news?" I asked.

"That the most perfect girl in the whole entire world is now my girlfriend." Jake grinned.
