Grace's POV
"Harley my feet are killing me." I whined for the millionth time.
Yes, we were shopping for Jake's birthday present. Yes, it was my idea. But I didn't think we'd be out for four hours. I thought for sure maybe an hour or two maximum.
When Harley starts shopping, she can't seem to stop.
"Oh please. Your feet can't kill you." Harley pointed out.
"Yeah, but my feet can make me want to kill myself." I argued back.
Harley just rolled her eyes and walked into another store.
What store was this I wonder? It was a clothing store.
For females.
"We aren't even looking for Jake anymore!"
"That's just because you can't even think of what to get him." Harley said, going through a rack of purple tops.
I grabbed her arm and tried to pull her arm. "So we should be looking for him then still."
"You think. I'll look at stuff for me. Let me know when any ideas pop up." Harley went back to her clothes.
It was so much easier to get presents for Jake when he was younger. We'd get him toys essentially. Water guns, soccer ball, occasionally some clothes, gift cards, video games, that kind of thing.
Now he was older and I couldn't just give him $20 in a card and be done with it. He was my best friend and now my boyfriend.
If anything, my gift had to be his favourite. I couldn't be the disappointment.
Harley already got Jake a present. She found some computer game that had a lot of violence, zombies and gore essentially.
"It's every guy's favourite game." She had said at the time.
I'm sure it probably was. But I couldn't get something like that for her exact reason.
Every guy.
Jake wasn't every guy. Not to me. To get him something like that is something I would just get anyone.
"What would you get Chase?" I asked her.
Hopefully she'd be a little bit helpful now.
Harley turned around and with the most serious face ever, gestured to herself and said, "Some of this."
I burst out laughing and Harley just winked at me, a grin now on her face.
"It's true." She laughed.
I shook my head at her. "I'm sure it is."
I looked over at some of the stories surrounding us. There was one of those $1 looking shops but when you went in it was nowhere near $2. It seemed like cheap stuff but it was more like $10 plus shop.
"Harley, I might go have a look over there." I told Harley before walking off towards the shop.
Who knew what kind of stuff you could find in here? It'd be a little bit out of the ordinary... which would make it different.
