Grace's POV
How do I begin to describe Saturdays?
"Saturdays are flawless."
...Yeah, no.
However, I do love Saturdays. It's one of the only days in the week where I can actually sleep in late if I want to. Today I didn't sleep in because I wanted to go take some pictures for the art competition.
I got up about an hour ago at five am to get all my camera gear together. Reaching under my bed, I grabbed an extra SD card in case I didn't have enough space on my camera. I didn't have the time to go through my current SD card to check.
The plan was to take a bus down to the city where the bushland is. Through the bush it takes about a ten minute walk to find a lake with a waterfall. It was the perfect setting for a picture. Especially with the sun rising at 6:19am.
I had spoken with my mum a couple of nights ago to explain that I was planning on going out this morning so when she woke up she wouldn't completely freak out that I wasn't anywhere in the house.
I almost had a heart attack as someone squeezed my sides, starting to tickle me. I spun around and smacked the person in the face.
"Shit, Gracie." Jake exclaimed, lifting a hand to cup his cheek.
"You know not to sneak up on me." I told him.
"I didn't know you were going to turn into some secret assassin and attack my face. My face Gracie."
"Oh calm your man boobs. Your face is fine." I rolled my eyes and packed the rest of my things into a small back pack.
"Where are you off to?" He asked, noticing my bag.
"Taking some photos for that competition."
His eyes lit up and he looked almost excited. "Can I come along? Watch you in action?"
I just laughed and nodded at him. "Yeah, sure."
"Sweet."
Jake went to go pack some things in a bag while I got us some breakfast. He only needed a water bottle, sunglasses, some swimmers (if we went swimming in the lake after), which he would then need a towel too, and sunscreen.
I would've carried it in my bag but I couldn't really fit it in and he wanted to be a "gentleman" which is how we ended up in my mum's car, so he could drive us there himself.
Apparently there are lots of hobos on the bus at 5:30am...

"Okay, take a left here..." I gave Jake the last of the instructions on how to get there.
He pulled over onto the side of the road and we both got out, taking our back packs with us.
"Gracie, I don't know if you'll get many great pictures here." He told me. I could see he looked a bit disappointed at the destination.
"This isn't it you numpty. There's another ten minute walk from here into the bush."
His mouth formed an 'O' shape and he nodded.
