Grace's POV
I just couldn't believe Jake would do something like that. I've never seen him so wound up and well... violent. I couldn't get the image of Jake with blood covered fists, dark eyes and the way he hit Chris so many times out of my head.
The fact that Jake never got into any fights made me question why he would now. Especially with my boyfriend. Maybe he was right when he said I shouldn't date someone I barely know...
No.
Chris had been so good to me. There's nothing wrong with him at all. He's absolutely perfect.
Also really good looking...
Speaking of my overly handsome boyfriend, I was waiting for him outside the school gates so we could walk to his place. Probably wasn't a good idea to be left alone right now because I was so caught up in my thoughts but he'd be here soon. He never left me waiting too long. It was cute.
I heard someone walking past and I looked up to see Chris and couldn't help but smile. He gave me a quick hug and kissed my cheek.
"Hey." He smiled at me. A little dimple appeared on his left cheek.
Swoon.
"Hi there." I lifted a hand up to his jaw and lightly brushed my fingers against it, frowning as I saw him flinch.
There was a giant blue and purple bruise forming and quite honestly it looked awful. The look of it just made me even more furious at Jake. Jeez he's such an asshole. Chris never did anything to deserve this.
I moved my hand down to his and laced our fingers together.
"Come on. Let's get going." I told him.

The walk to Chris' house took about ten minutes. Which was good because the weather has been so hot lately and I don't think I could stand to walk out there any longer.
We had tried to avoid talking about the fight because Chris knew I couldn't stand the idea of him being hurt or my best friend being the one to hurt him.
Chris tossed me a bottle of water from the fridge as I walked over towards him and I opened it up, drinking from it furiously. I'm just that skilled that I can actually drink furiously. Seriously. I'm cool.
"Babe I can basically see the steam coming out of your ears." Chris laughed at me.
I stuck my tongue out at him and he just laughed more. He held out his hand to me and I reluctantly took it and he pulled me towards him just before wrapping his arms around my waist.
"I just don't know why he would do something like that to you..." I told him.
"Maybe he misinterpreted something I did or said." He suggested to me.
"Doubt it. Jake doesn't do things like that. Ever." I leaned my head against his chest. It was a bit hard to lean against but I needed to be closer to him. To make sure he was okay.
"You know, he could have just not liked the idea of you being my girlfriend." He rubbed my back slowly. It was kind of funny how I should be calming him down but he was making sure I was okay first.
